Last night, the party managed to bag a TR-1 Wraith.
Problem is, bagging it tore it to shreds. Most critically, the engine is dead after receiving four hits.
Given the Wraith's limited availability, the party has decided that trying to fix it up will be more trouble than it's worth. As such, they'll either part it out or sell it for salvage.
If they go the "part it out" route, they'll have a lot of parts that they can turn right around and use: four jump jets, 10 double heat sinks, several tons of endo steel frame, a ton or so of armor, and a large pulse laser.
But that leaves us with two rather troublesome components: the gyroscope for a 385-rated engine and the cockpit.
So that leaves me with the question: would it be realistically possible to convert either system over to something else (IE, the cockpit over to a pilot sim)?
Thanks. _________________ "I wish I could write as mysterious as a cat." -Edgar Allen Poe"I knew there was something special about you, but I never realized you were really a cat." Wolfwood to a random cat (Trigun)

I'm a GM who's been averaging three hours of sleep a night for the past few weeks thanks to certain house cats not wanting to play nicely with each other.
I'm a little too tired to be all that creative right now. _________________ "I wish I could write as mysterious as a cat." -Edgar Allen Poe"I knew there was something special about you, but I never realized you were really a cat." Wolfwood to a random cat (Trigun)

I think the head may be converted to something else. Combat sim would be okay and I think that the cockpit may even drive another 'Mech, although there may be some penalties fo being in different weight category if the tech doesn't take much time to reconfigure everything. It's all about software IMO.
For the gyro I'd say that it can drive any medium 'Mech that needs 4t gyro, although some alternations and different software would have to be installed. _________________ The dragon NEVER sleeps!

You don't need to be creative, it's a "yes or no" question... _________________ www.210sportsblog.com

First of all I am a little more strict on the salvage issue when I do small units. But that is another story.
Yes the cockpit could be used as part of a sim. I feel a major computer system would be needed. Then some sort of hydraulics to bounce and shake if you want to make is realistic. But if you are in the outer areas that will be tough. The program alone would be tough. On a major planet not such a big deal.
So selling it is the better route. But for fun you could have them barter the stuff with another unit. Or keep it simple and they post it on the Galatea used stuff Merc-Bay and get some bidders. Then just ship it off via UPS- Universal Planetary Service. The last is the simpilist for you.
AWAD- Not much to say this morning
