Apparently, the movie will delve somewhat into the backgrounds of a few characters.
The director has also confirmed that much of the early reportage concerning the Joes being multi-national is incorrect; they'll still be largely a US team.

Hasbro and Marvel Comics took the hint after they were swamped with emails and letters and phone calls about the changes...nice to see that the fans can actually be seen as a voice and thus listen to on matter relating to HOW something is done. No fans, no money.

Since when did Ripcord get a sense of humor? Wow...
What is so hard about not monkeying with the original stuff to make a movie? Why do they have to make these changes and not expect the fans to comment on them?
Fans = money
Crappy movie = no money and pissed off fans
The math should work for Hollywood since it's their math.
