Just a heads up that I am about 85% of the way through creating the TRO Submission module again. It's not based off the new rules yet, but I wanted to get it out there. I expect it to be up sometime around Christmas and is much improved over the previous versions. I'll give the URL when it's ready, but I expect you folks to get those designs you want to test with ready to go. I'll need you all to try and break it. _________________ Mordel Blacknight - Site Administrator

Wait until you see if it works before deciding if you want the present or not. _________________ Mordel Blacknight - Site Administrator

I made this a sticky as I believe everything is good to go. I'm just waiting for the domain to propagate out to the masses. When it does, I'll let everyone know and we can commence testing. _________________ Mordel Blacknight - Site Administrator

OK, so this is up in its current state at http://sandbox.mordel.net. Login with the same login as you do here. Then go to Ministry of Intelligence >> Technical Readouts >> BattleMechs >> Submit.
After looking at it myself I wasn't 100% happy with it. It takes too long in some areas because I was making too many non-asynchronous AJAX calls (which sort of defeats the purpose). So there are times it seems like the system freezes. So I have a couple ideas to remedy that but will require some code re-tweaking.
However, this will give you a good idea how it will function in the end, and the logic won't change. So test away and let me know what doesn't work. What you don't like. What you think should be changed, etc.
Thanks... _________________ Mordel Blacknight - Site Administrator

What OS and what browser? I did all my testing in FireFox 2.0 and IE 7.
Also, if you can tell me what the JS errors say (if you know how to look), it'd be most helpful. _________________ Mordel Blacknight - Site Administrator

You should be able to view the errors in FireFox by going to Tools --> Error Console. To get a clean look though, before you even go to the TRO section, I recommend going to the Error Console and clearing out what is currently there first. Hopefully that'll help.
Also, since you seem to be getting an abundance of errors, we can hit them one at a time and try to fix as we go and see if others clear up. So, along with the above, if you can tell me the exact steps you take when you first go to the Submission module to when you encounter the first error.
Again, thanks for your help. Together we can make this work.

OK, I just uploaded a file with updated javascript that I believe will fix the majority (if not all) of your issues Vagabond.
Turns out there is a bug in FireFox when making synchronous AJAX calls. The oddity of it is that when using the Firebug extension (a development tool), it works as expected. Since I have Firebug installed, I never noticed this. So I disabled Firebug and was able to track the problem down and (hopefully) correct it.
Please give things another go and let me know what you find. I still plan on tweaking the javascript a lot more to make things move much quicker in various areas. _________________ Mordel Blacknight - Site Administrator

OK, I fixed the TSM issue. Is there anything else you may have noticed during your testing? If not, keep hammering away for me.
Also, one of the things I added was that your design as you are working on it is saved to the database. That way, if you close your browser accidentally or something happens, when you come back you will not have lost what you were working on.
Also, after submitting it retains what you were last working on. This makes it easier for doing variants. The design you are currently working on is saved for 2 hours. If you come back after 1 1/2 hours, then the timer is reset.
So, do you think 2 hours is sufficient? I was sort of going back and forth on this and decided on two hours because that should be a sufficient amount of time for people to come back if they started something but couldn't finish. _________________ Mordel Blacknight - Site Administrator
