I was playing a little with lvl1 tech today. I wanted a brawler that would have some good medium to short range firepower while being able to keep up with heavies.

Okay the LRM is pretty useless at short range, so it's not going to factor in that much. A good pilot will keep that in mind.

It runs hot, but again a good use of weapons pairing and range will keep the heat under control. So really have a mech that fits the 3025 era nicely and doesn't try to out do canon mechs.

ok... i'm sorry but with the recent Charger conversation this looks more like another variant based on the A5.

in and of itself, it is a good design. solid soldier mech.

in a variant, i would move the rear ml forward and drop the lrm/5 for an srm/4. to me the token lrm is useless at this size and the srm would work better for other jobs.

The LRM was added to allow the 'Mech to do 20 damage without having to get to ML range. I didn't want to work with a PPC and MLs were added as a purely defensive measure.

To CGR-1A5 ... well the A5 is a juggernaut with 2 SRM-6s and an AC/20. And it lacks both ranged weapons and durability. This one is a brawler that doesn't need to get that close too much. I also avoided crit seeking weapons to make it a bit more reliant on the team and worked with extra ammo from the start to allow it to use it's weapons as much as it's needed.

I considered having the lasers faced forward and adding SRMs when I had the LL/AC combo, but I decided that I don't want to copy the concept of Warhammer or Battlemaster. I kept the medium range weapons as a main armament and left the MLs and LRMs as something that can be added to firepower, but not necessarily.

Still thanks for your comments.
