At present, I'm working as a tutor at a local college.
It has come to my attention that we need a sample research paper in order to show the students here how to properly quote or paraphrase research info and how to properly cite their sources.
If I am to write this, I need a topic that:
1. is non-controversial,
2. has a good deal of available information from multiple sources (net, books, etc),
3. and can be presented in 2-4 pages.
Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks. _________________ "I wish I could write as mysterious as a cat." -Edgar Allen Poe"I knew there was something special about you, but I never realized you were really a cat." Wolfwood to a random cat (Trigun)

Well, non-controversial means you need to stay away from anything religious or political.
I would go with maybe the history of some famous American battle (Gettysburg, Antietam, Pearl Harbor, etc). Or maybe it needs to be scientific in nature, at which point you could take more of a science fair project approach and talk about the formation of the Hawaiian Islands. Or maybe I have no idea. _________________ Mordel Blacknight - Site Administrator

An essay on something in the battletech world. May not be a real life issue but can make a great sample.
Otherwise, I suggest a comparison-contrast of the U.S. Social Welfare System [an aspect of] vs that of say Canada or Brittan.
My last suggestion is along mordel's thought line. Do a short essay on the Battle of Midway. What went wrong. What tactics/strategies each side employed. How it altered the war. _________________ one must work hard to cultivate the mind and body. and one must always cultivate the mind.

Historical essays on the personalties of famous musicians/composers are always a blast. Mozart, Beethoven, Tchaikovsky, Grieg, Dvorak, etc etc etc. _________________ "Historians exercise great power and some of them know it. One great one is to identify just who of the late 19th century was a Nationalist composer, and who was just writing whatever.
Someone like Grieg is a very well known nationalist, using folk instruments in his large orchestras, or writing in keys that were usually only for the folk instruments of his region (9 string violin!!! 4 were played, the other 5 were tuned for sympathetic vibration!!!).
I mean...even the definition of nationalism in composers is a good essay topic.
Was Tchaikovsky a nationalist composer? Etc.
I am not even sure of this makes any sense. I just woke up! _________________ "Historians exercise great power and some of them know it. They recreate the past, changing it to fit their own interpretations. Thus, they change the future as well." - Leto II
