I did something very similar, I took the Warhammer and gave it EDS and DHS, that was the new tech I gave it. Yours is nice and would make a decent addition to any force.

I would change the small pluse lasers for mediums. But that is me. (yes I dont like pulse lasers. never have and never will)
And how is it minmaxing?

I suspect the small pulse lasers are there to put the fear of god into the infantry. Having conducted some limited tests with the new infantry rules, they can be quite threatening to a BattleMech without the appropriate weaponry, due to their general resilience to BattleMech weapons. If you are convinced you are not likely to see ground-pounders though, then the medium lasers are the way to go.
Light machine guns are also nice, if only for the range.
I, personally, think this is a great upgrade.

Yeah, I figured they were there for the rare infantry. Unfortunately our games rarely saw infantry, so Machine guns and the small pulse were just wasted tonnage. I havent played with the new infantry rules yet. its interesting to hear that they have gotten scarier to battlemechs.

It wasn't meant as a slander (if that is the correct word).
The design has nearly full armor, 2 ER PPC / 30 DHS combo, standard engine. With current technology it's very close to top prformance from all possible variations of the original WHM-6R hassis.
Such machines are rare, and they should remain rare, because they would push most other designs out of the game

That was actually the intent. With this latest kick I've been on (upgrades), the goal has always been to simply make the 'mechs better through simple swaps of old technology to new. I think it's a testament to the underlying capabilities of the chassis I've been working with that when I'm done they're so improved, even though I feel like I haven't really done anything special to them.

I think that in standard TROs the designers avoid such solutions to prevent creation of a perfect machine. That would discourage people form experimenting with their own machines and take part of the game we like away. Not to mention that with less 'Mechs to play with they would sell less TROs,minis, ...
Everyone likes designing and tinkering with 'Mechs and vees.

That is the real reason for all the mechs. If the IS DID make a new mech it would be 1 maybe 2. for the entire sphere.
But honestely everyone loves to tinker with mechs. Its what makes the game fresh and exciting.
