==Overview:==
Long a favorite of Davion forces, the Shadow Hawk was created to be a
multi-role unit. It had the firepower to engage targets at all ranges and all
known target types, making it both a reliable front-line mech and a solid
choice for garrisons and training units.

Among the academies who made frequent useage of the Shadow Hawk was the Goshen
War College, considered to be the Federated Suns' best-kept secret. While the
push was for the Watchman to become the standard training mech, Goshen's top
brass dug in their heels and stayed with the Shadow Hawk even though they were
mostly using older machines that were beginning to show their age.

After much consideration, the officials at Goshen made the decision to work
with a number of local factories to form a consortium that would produce
Shadow Hawks. But instead of the dated 2D model, however, Goshen officials
wanted to produce a unit that they felt better represented the nature of
modern warfare.

==Capabilities:==
 The most significant change made to the Shadow Hawk was the decision to go
with Endo Steel structure. This freed up some tonnage, although at the cost of
internal space. Two heat sinks were dropped, as it was decided that changing
over to double heat sinks would be more efficient.

The mech's jumping capacity was improved, solving what had long been a
complaint among Shadow Hawk pilots and making the mech a faster unit. 

In a nod to the new types of weapons a mech pilot might face, steps were taken
to improve the mech's armor protection. The SRM ammo was moved to the right
torso, and CASE was installed in both side torsos to protect the ammo. An
additional half ton of armor was added, which, while not enough to provide
complete protection, represented a good-faith effort to get there.

As a tactical consideration, a second medium laser and an additional ton of
ammo for the autocannon were added. The second ton of ammo would give the
pilot the option of making use of some of the newer munition types to allow
for more tactical flexibility, or to allow the pilot more shots with the
normal rounds and therefore the ability to remain on the field longer. The
second medium laser was not only installed as a nod to the presence of battle
amor (something which did not exist at the time the Shadow Hawk was designed)
but also as a means to ensure that the mech could fight its way back to the
rear if its ammo bins ran dry. 

==Deployment==
The first runs of the 3G have already been purchased by the Goshen War College
and the garrisons on Goshen and Amiga despite these runs not even being
complete yet. The garrisons of other planets have also expressed interest.

And while we cannot confirm it, there are reports that Goshen may allow select
mercenary units with a history of loyalty to the Federated Commonwealth to
purchase units.

I smell old Star League flavor here: Some highTech combined with standard weapons.
Two tons of AC ammo aren't bad with all that special ammunition around (some of them have only 10 shots per ton) and another laser gives it much needed shortrange firepower. A full jump of 5 will be the first thing i would give an SHD variant too!
