------------------------------------------------------------------------------
==Overview:==
The SU-1 (Superiority Unit) represents the Duchy of Small's attempt at
creating a multi-role conventional fighter.
The unit sports twin SRM 2s, enabling it to target infantry, tanks, mechs, and
other aircraft with ease. The SU-1 has a full ton of ammo, meaning that it can
continuously fire both launchers for a full four minutes before it runs out of
ammo; this has the potential to do a good deal of damage if the unit hasn't
been shot down by that time.
==Variants:==
Some crews strip off the SRM 2s for a single LRM 5, allowing for sniping at
range.
Other crews mix and match RL 10s and machine guns.

==Overview:==
The SU-2 (Superiority Unit) is intended as a multi-role fighter that can
engage targets at all ranges. The twin LRM 5s allow it to chip away at targets
from a distance, while the SRM 2 is a solid backup.
==Variants:==
Most crews keep the LRM 5s, but some choose to replace the SRM 2 with twin RL
10s and a machine gun.

My original concept for the SU-2 involved it having an AC/2 and a ton of ammo. I decided against this, as the AC/2 has a sizeable minimum and there would have been no room for a secondary weapon. _________________ "I wish I could write as mysterious as a cat." -Edgar Allen Poe"I knew there was something special about you, but I never realized you were really a cat." As I remember min range doesn't count in Aerospace games!

I'm already plotting out the campaign that will happen after this one.
If all goes as planned, the party will wind up facing off against the Duchy of Small, who is attempting to claim several words within the Chaos and Draconis Marches as their own.
In keeping with the Duchy's attempts at conquest, I figure it's only reasonable that they would try to set up factories that would provide them with cheap, easily mass-produced weapons.
And what says "cheap, mass-production military hardware" better than the USSR?

If the party would be facing them, it'd be because they were being strafed or witnessing a dogfight.
The fighters I've created for the AFNN (I'm not spelling it out until after Karragin and the others meet up with it) are already frightening as it is. I want to at least pretend that the Duchy's aircraft would have a chance against them; an AC/2 with no backup just won't cut it against space dominance platforms. _________________ "I wish I could write as mysterious as a cat." -Edgar Allen Poe"I knew there was something special about you, but I never realized you were really a cat." Except for RLs (which I think sould be L1), I have it that the Duchy can't hack L2 tech; they literally cannot afford it. _________________ "I wish I could write as mysterious as a cat." -Edgar Allen Poe"I knew there was something special about you, but I never realized you were really a cat." Most of those designs were "what if....." units where I was simply tinkering until I found something I like. _________________ "I wish I could write as mysterious as a cat." -Edgar Allen Poe"I knew there was something special about you, but I never realized you were really a cat." A specially designed modification for the more cost concerned entities and nations. The remote sensor dispenser is on pg 236 of the TechManual and is considered Pre-spaceflight. Can pull duty in the absence of BAP.

Communications System: O/P AIR 500
Targeting & Tracking System: DLK Type Phased Array Sensor System
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
==Overview:==
The AV-80A Ground Support Fighter is the brainchild of the Hawker-Siddley
Aerospace firm on Northwind. The purpose of the aircraft is to provide a
cheep yet heavily armed fighter/bomber ground support fighter that can be
deployed in large numbers by militia units in order to provide such units with
close air support for there Armored Cavalry. The aircraft's primary armament
is the seven external hard points that are can be stocked with both guided and
unguided munitions. Backup weapons include a single 30mm rotary cannon
mounted on the underbelly for air-to-air and air-to-ground engagements and a
pair of missile launchers mounted under the wings just along the main body.
Hawker-Siddley designed these missile launcher compartments to accept a
majority of launchers used within the Inner Sphere with little or no
modification necessary. This extra feature was provided do to the limited
availability of Streak launchers outside of the Draconis Combine. In
addition, the AV-80A is equipped with a V/STOL system that allows it to
operate from air bases and areas normally not long enough for standard
aircraft. In addition, Hawker-Siddley designed secondary air intake ports
that are hidden beneath hatches during normal operation that open whenever the
aircraft is placed into V/STOL mode. Whenever these secondary hatches open,
hatches within the main intake close. This feature prevents the aircraft from
ingesting particulate matter or hot thrust gases both of which can cause
critical failures in the AV-80As turbine that can cause the aircraft to crash
or worse explode. These two features allow the AV-80A to function as
Hawker-Siddley wishes it to operate: from quickly assembled bases just behind
the main line of combat where other aircraft cannot operate from in order to
quickly respond to attacks and provide air support and then rearm with a
minimum of flight time. It is in this thought that the entire AV-80A was
design and in which it excels. Hawker-Siddley has begun production of the
first units and expects at least a six dozen aircraft active by the end of the
year. It is presently taking orders from anyone who is willing to ship the
finished units themselves.
==Variants:==
There are several variations of the basic AV-80A airframe. One variant
replaces the Active Probe for an ECM Suite. Other variants replace the twin
Streak SRM-4s with twin SRM-6s or MRM-10s or LRM-5s with Artemis IV FCS.
Rumor also has it that Hawker-Siddley and the Taurian Concordat are presently
in negotiation with each other for production several squadrons of an AV-80A
variant that removes the Active probe in favor of an increased fuel load and a
second 30mm rotary cannon.

Availability: X-X-D
Availability Note: D = Rare, X = Unavailable; For a unit or item’s overall Availability Rating, the designer will find three letter grades, separated by hyphens, which correspond to the three main eras of Classic BattleTech history. These eras are (respectively): the Age of War through the Star League period (up to 2800), the Succession Wars period (2801 to 3050) and the Clan Invasion era (3051 to the present).
Honestly, I think they goofed on the letter ratings on this item given that it is a pre-spaceflight item and little more then a cargo bay with a deployment system and that the BA version is listed as D-D-D.
I'd suggest using bomb rules for air deployment. _________________ one must work hard to cultivate the mind and body. and one must always cultivate the mind.

Interesting. Not exactly impressively armed, but not bad at all for supporting roles.

Regardless, I have a feeling that Duke Small's got a death wish. "Nonsense, underling. The Davions and Haseks won't mind at all that I'm stealing their worlds." Errai is technically a part of the Draconis March, and is only one jump from the Duchy's borders. _________________ "I wish I could write as mysterious as a cat." -Edgar Allen Poe"I knew there was something special about you, but I never realized you were really a cat."
