My missive: design unto me a Battlemech classified as a "Striker." Fast and heavily armed, designed to engage and cripple an enemy in as short a time as possible.
Level 1 tech preferred, no Level 3 tech or Clan tech. Cost is no object, but extra points will be awarded for designs that encourage a modicum of survivability (I.E. standard/light engines).
Everything else... is up to you...

EDIT: Now obsolete, see further down in the thread. In fact, I'll just delete this, if you want to know, it was heavier than the new version, and mounted six medium lasers. Everything else was pretty much the same.
I still have the HMP file if you're still interested past that.

GZT is working on this one. so far I have a 55 tonner with no fluff move is 5/8
8 tons standard armor, RA mounted AC 20 with 2 tons of RT mounted ammo, no RA hand or lower arm actuator.and three medium lasers in the LT. Using lvl 1 tech makes it a challenge, I will say that. Updates to follow, with fluff

==Overview:==
In 3025 Omaron BattleMechs was approached by the DCMS to design a fast striker
with heavy firepower.After several prototypes that never left the drawing
board the YR-6A Yari finally walked off the production line in 3027.
==Capabilities:==
With a top speed of almost 100 kph the Yari is able to close quickly, deliver
a devastating blow and retreat to cool down again. The Blankenburg 802 ST
large laser gives some hard firepower at a reasonable range while the 502 ST
add the knockout punch up close.
Despite being fast and well armed the designers gave the Yari considerable
armor protection too.
To keep communications clear even under the worst circumstances the Mech was
equipped with the new AE CO3 Owlsear Improved com unit from Atlan
Electronics.
==Variants:==
In 3051 the YR-6B was produced for three years. OBM acquired some rediscovered
high tech and so was able to replace the 802 ST with an 811 ER extended range
large laser. 12 double heat sinks were incorporated and the head mounted 502 ST
was dropped for a 621 PS medium pulse laser. After just 36 machines the
production was swapped to the KHKH-6 Kharkush.

The new, IMPROVED Tesla. This one is much lighter, since although the 35 tonner was effective, it didnt' seem unique to me. So here's a smaller one. And I knocked a million c-bills off the price with little loss of firepower. Not bad, I think.

==Overview:==
The Tesla is a new design undergoing research testing at Beckwood
Manufacturing for possible introduction into their line up. It is slated to
possibly replace the aging Perentie, whose sales are slowing. The Tesla
appears to be named after the legendary mad scientist, who spent his final
jealousy fueled years attempting to build a death ray.
This version of the Tesla is cut down in tonnage, to make it a more
attractive buy. It also suffers slightly less heat trouble than the original
TS-L4.
==Capabilities:==
The Tesla is a simple design which places emphasis on massive sustained
firepower, at cost to pilot comfort. For this reason, it mounts a staggering
four ChisComp 39 medium lasers along with a pair of ChisComp 32 small lasers,
slaved to the new Fox Fury 230 Dual Lock targeting system, ensuring that all
the lasers burn into an efficient hex pattern when fired together, increasing
the likelihood of armor and component failure in the enemy.
Defensively, the Tesla is thickly armored, carrying near maximum
protection possible for a machine its size. Duke Blackwell insisted that the
machine be a safe ride for pilots, if not particularly comfortable. In
addition, though the lack of hand and arm actuators makes the machine take a
support role in raid missions, it's ability to shoot behind it with 80% of its
firepower was considered a very acceptable trade off.
Though not particularly designed for recon duties, the Tesla is efficient
at it, restrictive terrain not withstanding. Its sensor systems are slightly
above average, and it features the very secure Fox Cry 115 Encoded Array
communications system, enabling it to send encrypted burst transmissions
nearly planet wide. The machine also boasts a reverse jointed leg system, to
increase stability when running at its maximum speed of 120 kph.
At just under two million c-bills, the Tesla is a very adequate strike
machine, so long as one does not mind becoming very uncomfortable in combat.
With only ten heatsinks, a Tesla pilot must use no more than 60% of the
machine's offensive and speed capabilities to remain comfortably cool.
==Variants:==
The most simple variant, designed to address pilot concerns, switches the
upper laser in each arm for an extended range model, and replaces the
heatsinks with double versions.
A further overhaul for customers willing to pay for it involves removing
the fusion engine and replacing it with a 200 rated light fusion engine, and
rearmoring the design with ferro-fibrous. The remaining space is used to
upgrade the small lasers in the torso for normal mediums. This design also
includes all the amenities of the pilot comfort variant, such as the two
extended range medium lasers, and the double heatsinks.

A challenge was put forth, and Ground Zero Salvage and Technology accepted. A fast heavy hitter was needed, and while not as light or fast as the other entries, GZT feels that the War Boar could fill the need nicely.
Overview
The War Boar is 55 tons of pain.It has better than average speed, and a knock out punch in the arm mounted Autocannon/20. The cannon is mounted in such a fashion to give it the greatest field of fire possible, thus the mech has no right arm hand actuator or lower arm actuator. Three medium lasers back the cannon up. There seeme to only be two main detractors for the design though. The 11 heatsinks and 8 tons of standard armor have been cited by test pilots to be inadequate to meet the needs of the mech or the pilot.
The designers response was basically" But the gun! Look at the big freakin gun!" Despite this discouraging response, the designers have actullay taken the WarBoar and are looking at ways to increase protection with out taking too large a hit to firepower.
Variants
The only variant proposed at this time was to replace the11 standard heatsinks with10 double, using the space savings to install CASE for the ammo in the right torso. This version also trades out the standard armor for a Ferro weave variant to increase protection. A small laser is mounted under the cockpit as well. This does raise the cost of the machine, though.

Fang, might I make a suggestion? If you move the design into simple Level 2 tech, you can simply put a Gauss on it. Even if you do no other advanced Tech than that, you solve the machine's two major shortcomings: heat, and lack of range. Just drop 1 HS to do it, and leave them as normals. You get 30 points of damage total, including a head chopper at all ranges.
Just my 10 cents. Along with that, I would like to say the current machine is a deadly one, if they get too close.

Very true. That would give it a good reach and definite punch. I wanted to try it using only lvl 1 tech first, just to see what I could come up with. I like the lvl 1 version, except the armor is a bit thin for my personal tastes. Reminds me of a fast Hunchback, I guess. Or the Thunder 70 tonner from the 3055 TRO.

technology newly accepted to Draconis Combine arsenal.

Following traditional Combine doctrine the Ashigaru prefers speed over armor,
but six tons of Ferro-Fibrous armor offer impressive protection for 'Mech's
size nonetheless. Like a true Samurai the Ashigaru has the complete
destruction of the enemy in mind, not concerned about it's own safety the
'Mech is built to Quickly deal with Lighter 'Mechs and heavily damage machines
many times it's size, especially if the 'Mech uses it's speed to reach rear
