Hi guys -
check out CBT. They have a sneak preview of a new Warhammer there. What a monster! It moves as fast as a Shadowhawk and drops the SL, MG and SRMs for a Tarcomp! Not sure that it fits into the same mission profile as it used to..... _________________ "Rear armour is defeatist!" - unknown Kuritan Mechwarrior

Why don't you try checking it out before you declare it munchkin.
Its not quite the upgrade I wanted, but it does fit the design mentality of 3067 with the XL engine and targeting comp. It has an armor factor of 216, which is a great improvement and badly needed by the old design. Overall its definitely a more powerful Warhammer.
I would have liked to see a less radical upgrade myself. Maybe something that just ditches the mg's and AMS, adds endo-steel, and upgrades the SRM 6 to a Streak and adds armor.

I didn't say it was, just that it sounded like it. Touchy, touchy.....

I hope that it'd be better on heat and is more useful than its predecessor.
Say, isn't there another mech that's having a change similar to this? (Don't quote me, but i think there is) _________________ He who jump off cliff, jump to conclusion.

It's not munch. A simple look at the heat tables would tell you that. If the pilot does an alpha strike, he will build up four points of heat. Assuming, of course, that he stands still. Otherwise, he will lose one point off of his walking movement the next turn. This means that unless he jumps, he will lose one point from his maximum defensive bonus for movement. With an XL, that is something no pilot can afford to do. What I'm thinking is that this is a heavy sniping mech. The twin ERPPCs slaved into a Targeting Computer mean that it can hit targets at a distance with accuracy. The lasers would be saved for something that actually manages to close. (Look at it this way: snipers tend to have their rifle and a pistol. The PPCs are the rifle, and the lasers are the pistol.)

4 in heat with an Alphastrike! Sweet Jesus what will I do!
Sorry, but I just keep thinking back to "16 on the heat scale...I'm not worried yet."

Older players will know what to do; the younger and inexpierienced players won't. When they realize that they just lost out on movement and therefore defensive points, odds are that that person will probably freak and screw up. That rear armor is still fairly thin. Anything over ten points of damage or so and that rear armor is toast. And since it runs with an XL, you then get a good chance of an engine hit.
Like I said, this is a sniper's mech; the lasers are there just in case someone gets too close.

That's why you bust their cherry on a Level 1 mech. Once they know what they are doing with heat and movement THEN you give them Level 2 and Clantech.

No, then they'd just consider it a fluke. You'd have to beat them repeatedly. As it is, I know of a munch who would refuse to replay anyone who beat him like that.

Kraken, what I meant was make him use level 1 mechs until he learns how to use terrain, and heat management, and movement, and all of those necessary skills...then let him have the big toys.

I am not at all fond of both the Whammer and Phawk designs that have been previewed. Who ever heard of a jumping Warhammer? And a Phawk only jumping 5? What's up with that? My biggest peeve is that the WH doesn't even have a six rack.....that's just wrong! I think they should've given it a light engine instead of an xl and just upped the six rack to a streak and add some armor. But that's just my opinion.

Yeah the PHX-3D is a far better design than this new one in my book.
And the XL on the Warhammer isn't worth the vulnerability just for a TC.

Yeah, a XL for a TC is a bad idea. Expensive to.
