Actually the capital scale missiles are the only capital weapons that don't suffer from usual +5 penalty when targeting targets under 500t (Attack table p. 16, Aerotech 2), or it was changed in TW?

Oh, I was thinking about improved OS launchers, they weight 0.5t less than original (actually I think it should be 0.5t per 2 tubes for SRMs, or 1t per 5 tubes for LRMs, ... that would give more sense, since there is no ammo feed, and even then they wouldn't be too good)

We used OS-versions of the normal SRM`s and LRM's that weight only half of the standard launcher. But actually we didn't used them much!

Full disclosure: I don't know the rules for space combat for AT2 as well as I know the old AT rules.
But given the setup and the set-aside tonnage, I don't see a problem with it.
Though I think adding it into the game would necessitate a re-hashing of all the warship designs.
The dreadnaughts would go by the wayside, and we'd see a lot less broadside-to-broadside. But there would be an increase in the number of picket ships to escort the carrier. I think this would be a very different game than AT has always been, so I'd probably keep this as a very limited thing (e.g. throw it into the future, so if you feel the urge you can still have a big slug-fest in 3050) _________________ "Politics is the Art of looking for trouble, finding it everywhere, misdiagnosing the problem, and applying the wrong solution."

After reading the rules a little, broadside-to-broadside is a rather ineffective mode of attack anyway since you suffer a +2 to-hit for any attacks aimed at an opponets sides. angle of attack they call it.

Or there would be mass addition of various anti missile defenses (a lot of point defense low caliber weapons, maybe screen launcers...)

Those would be the lighter picket ships I was talking about.
Basically, you'd see the same massive change-in-form in battletech that actually happened in WWII.
If someone was really feeling historic, we might see House versions of the Reagan-era 600 ship navy.
Hence, throw it into the future, so people who want to fight carrier battles can, and the rest of us can do it the Napoleonic way. _________________ "Politics is the Art of looking for trouble, finding it everywhere, misdiagnosing the problem, and applying the wrong solution."
