You know, Chi, you'd make a hell of a diplomat.
For future reference "I'll say this and concede the point" is called a "face saving gesture."
Good form is to accept it and drop the point.
Like I'm going to.
OK, actually, this is trying to (unsuccessfully, I'm sure) get the last word.
But now, anymore comments about using these things in places other than cities? _________________ "Politics is the Art of looking for trouble, finding it everywhere, misdiagnosing the problem, and applying the wrong solution."

So let me get this straight kid...you concede a point but keep debating anyway, and then when your point that you kept debating is totally blown out of the water you get all pissy.
Interesting.

Rear weapons are a waste. Turn them around to face forward and put a large laser or PPC in an arm (and you should have a decent weapon in at least one arm to guard your side arc).
Anything you pay for but don't get to use is a major waste.

Chihawk,
You aren't taking into consideration any sort of a torso twist. If you combine that twist, with the arm's field of fire, your arms can cover the same areas as back mounted weapons except for that silly back hex.
Having said that, rear mounted weapons suck.
Though, I did kill a mech with my modified 10-15 light mech. Took all the armor and flipped it front to back, and put the medium lasers as rear firing. Then I entered it in the Battletech Maximus race that someone ran and allowed custom mechs. Figured to take most of the shots in the back, and I believe I was only actually hit once, but I killed someone with a lucky laser shot on the way by.

No it can't Pin...when you torso twist every arc moves one hexside in the direction you twisted. When you twist all you're doing is rotaing the arcs based on the head's facing instead of the feet.

Being the one who uses light mechs like Spiders regularly, and who is probably gone for more rear-armor than anyone else here, if I see a mech that has a Medium Pulse Laser in his arms OR rear torso, I don't jump behind it. Pulses kill fast mechs. However, you could argue they can go in the arms and be just as effective, I guess.

Well, they may be handy. Assaults and heavies may use them, because they are slow enough to be surrounded by smaller units and than being able to shoot at someone who is trying to back stab you without needing to twist torso and aiming weapons located in front arc elsewhere.
And don't forget about the quads...
