SD help me out again if you would please and show me the HMP version:

Here is the description:

3025 COM-2D starting point.

Upgrade the ML to an ERML, no other weapons changes.

Use endo steel for construction (gives a ton to work with)

Add CASE to the RT and move all armor there like the 3050 COM-5S.

Change the SHS to DHS, add one half ton of armor to the unit and convert to Ferro.

Gives us the following abbreviated stats:

6/9/0 standard engine endo frame, 81 armor (Ferro), 10 DHS, 1 ERML, 1 SRM-4, 1 SRM-6, CASE.

Thoughts?

I distributed the armor to allow the mech to survive a PPC without risking that it will immediately loose ammo or be slowed down. The armor on head and in rear torso areas remained thin, but this mech shouldn't expose itself too much.

Ummmmm... can you check the numbers for me again? I come up with 81 units of FF for 8.5 tons, so does Drawing board. Costs match but BV says 585 for me. Thanks

I don't like the 3 SRM-4's with only 1 ton of ammo. No CASE? Sorry.

Ah ha i like this. It is the original with minor upgrades. However, I am doubtful that the Taurians can afford this.

P.S. the 3 srm 4 version isn't bad at all, the CASE is superfical since with 3 SRM-4s you will go through 25 reloads real quick and it gives the mech some really brutal street fighting punch. 1 ton of ammo is problematic, but Commandos normally don't have enough armor to last long enough to deplete the ammo either way.

Sure we can afford it. We have one of the best economies in the Periphery (probably second to the MoC). And we have "big brother Sun-Tzu" in our alliance to help out. I'm sure he wouldn't mind helping us upgrade for 55% of the new production for a year, or 30% annually until all monies are paid back including interest at 15% annually compounded naturally with adjustment for inflation.

Why? The Taurians are producing FF already (And maybe ES too. I´m not shure!)and the FWL is throwing ER lasers in 100-packs after anybody who shows only a slight interrest!

Okay, I edited the post (I probably took one point of armor when I executed the changes) - it should be 80 for 4.5t.

The Drawing Board rounds the armor in a little different way and also calculates the costs and especially stealth differently.

To my modification:
I wanted to avoid ES structure, otherwise it would have two tons of ammo. There is enough ammo for eight rounds of fight that would be enough to kill the foe of equal size. The armor is just strong enough to empty the ammo bin, if the enemy doesn't want to ignore you (not so good idea )

EDIT: Just to finish my thoughts (I had to finnish off something first), I also avoided any costly and time consuming upgrades with the exception of FF armor. With those SHS it would be better to stay with standard laser, but I wanted something that would increase the range a little.

Yes we are. Between 3065 and 3067 we acquire all of the standard IS Level 2 tech from 3050 plus a few others we acquired on the way.

Understand avoiding the costly upgrades. Yours beats mine in that area for sure. I agree that for the most part that 1 ton of ammo is enough in most cases. Though I said that I don't like it I can handle it. Keeping the SHS is ok, I considered it too, but I felt the increased heat capacity was worth it especially with the ERML for added range.

And I agree with you about enemies ignoring the Commando...(not so good idea )

I'll add some more good points about the three SRM-4 launchers. You'll be able to fire all ammo even if one or two launchers are destroyed since they all use the same bin. With the standard config you have two weapons that can run out of ammo on their own or leave you with an ammo explosion waiting to happen. And the missing SRM-6 is one less item to stock among the replacement parts.

Do you want complete list of items available to the TC around 3067? I think that it's in Merc Supplemental II...

Well, if there is anyone worried about the ammo, than it's possible to use two streak SRM-4s (available for Periphery since 3067). This would look much better on more high tech variant that was suggested by House Calderon 1. and they would also allow keeping the SHSs without serious overheating problems. Of course that they would have only one ton of ammo, but that's twelve rounds of constant hitting with both launchers and still you would have one more salvo to cover your retreat

Yes that would be wonderful since I don't have that particular book.(Niether of the Mercs Supplementals). I have the information in general from Medron, like I said in general, because we communicated via PM's about where the Taurians are Technologically starting after 3065.

I considered this idea at length and discussed it with Medron and the other BC Taurians. I am still of mixed opinion. I like the idea that all missile hit for streak launchers, but I don't like that you don't necessarily fire when you pull the trigger (no target lock no fire) which has the plus also of no fire no heat.

I mean picture Clint Eastwood's dirty harry putting a "Streak" .357 in your face saying do you feel lucky pulls the trigger and doesn't go off (no target lock) *you get the idea*

Simply put: if I pull the trigger I want something going out the barrel because I feel like I have good odds on hitting it.
