Hey, I don't remember building this!
Aside from that (and LRM tonnage trick) you have a mech that looks reliable and durable as well. It's something between CN9-A and CN9-D.

ok, it is a pretty good design. however, i have a few issues with it.
First, i say drop the Small Laser and put CASE in the LT. Now move your LRM ammo back to the LT.
Second, since this an extensive mod anyway, i suggest you place the JJ in the side torsos. It requires less technical work to route the JJ mechanics and allows jumping while in lvl1 water.
Third, i personally despise the use of 2 LRM 5s over an LRM 10 just so you can save weight. While technically sound, it rubs me wrong. Therefor, drop a ton or 2 of armor and put the LRM 10 back in with 1 or 2 tons of ammo.
there you go.

| I find your issues with the twin LRM 5 vs. single LRM 10 curious. In addition to the weight saving you also have the increased to hit probability ( though that is balanced agianst reduced damage per hit. ) and also the advantage of system redundancy. you hit the LRM 10 once and you loose your long range fire power you hit an LRM 5 you still have the second one. It looks to me like the twin LRM 5s have significant advantages over the single LRM 10.

The pilot's name is Stefan DuPree. And I did the LRM bit as a redundancy.

Its cheese though...similar to light 'mechs which carry max armor, carry nothing but medium lasers, and move at 10/15/10...O.K., that's stretching it a bit, but you get the point. Its shameless min/maxing

| You talk like it is a bad thing. The primary goal when you go to war is to defeat your enemy. The side that has the best equipment is the side that is most likely to win. You decide what tactics work best for your military and then design the equipment that best suits that strategy. If you like to fight highly mobile fluid battles you want your machines to be light and fast and able to bring a lot of firepower in close fast. If you are someone who likes to fight slow set piece battles especially in defense you field large slow machines that have a lot of long range firepower and heavy armour. What ever your tactical philosophy is you want machines that are tough and if light hard to hit. In my mind somebody who does not try to design machines that are the best possible is a fool that is doomed to loose.

Min maxing is all really about flavor, i usually don't get bothered about it. But as for the LRM thingy, I usually mount 1 bigger rack than 2 smaller ones because i always prefer to mount Artemis even for the small LRM-10.

Than what prevents us from fielding TC/Pulse laser boats?

Actually?
I designed it around survivability.
First thing I did was yank the XL engine, thereby removing a major factor that could kill the mech. However, to compensate for the increased weight, I dropped the speed *back to* 4/6, which is what the 9-A had. I then added jump jets to compensate for it going slower.
Second, I added DHS. This allowed me to drop the weight enough so that I could max out the armor. I then broke up the LRM 10 rack for redundancy. This left me with just enough weight for a small laser. I chose the small laser as it would allow for a little extra firepower should it run out of ammo.

|
| Simple, Pulse Lasers are heavy. While you are more likely to get hits that is more than offset by the reduced damage add to that the reduced range especialy in the IS versions ant you quickly discover that the TC Pulse Laser combo is vastly over rated. the only place that system really has an advantage is when used against very fast opposition, particularly under level 3 movement rules.

Yes, less damage but against slower foes it may be concentrated to single location with only +1 to fire.

I'd argue when you compare the clan LLP vs the clan ER PPC, the LLP comes out ahead because it hits more often.
I like playing with odd forces, just because it changes the kinds of tactics that each player has to use. Going for pure power all the time, like Motown suggests, is certainly a recipe for victory, but its also a recipe for boring games.

I am more of a light calvery fighter I prefer light fast units relying on high speed to get in fast to sand paper my foes to death with batterys of small weapons my favorite mechs are my ER small laser boats. similarly I prefer to use Hovercraft over other vehicle types. I prefer to run around in circles needling the enemy to death. You face me and it is death from a thousand paper cuts.
