In every game I play in anything with a AC20 of anykind usually dies in less than 5 rounds. as no one wants to be on the recieving end of it.

UGH....Here's some errata that I thought you would get since you play all the time.
1. I make aimed shots when I can.
2. I know the chance of a frozen weapon but 3% is a small chance.
3. I don't ALWAYS run.
4. I know I have to roll an 8 to get both shots to hit.
Not to be a bugger but this post is about how useful LB-X's are. My point was I have a medium mech that can close quickly and has the potential of doing at least 40 points of damage. I didn't tell you the situations I use it in or the way I use it because this isn't about how I play. ...

I think he simple has a Hunch going 5/8 with an UAC/20 and no TC!
His friends hate this Hunch not because it is übermuch or especially scary, constantly slaying their mechs, but because he had luck hitting immobile targets (maybe because of a heat-shutdown) with aimed shots in two or three occasions within his games!

And this is where all of the information ahead of times is needed so people can make a better informed post. IF he is only firing at IMMOBILE targets then yes he dosent need the TC, but until that is said, and we know that, the only way to make a called shot is with a TC, which we have to assume he has by the way it was worded. Immoble targets are very easy to hit and target a location (didn't know that till today). His original post about the mech made it seem like it is an amazing machine.
Now back to the original topic, LB's are useful but I think it really comes down to personal preferance. Me personally I prefer the UAC and SSRM combo backed up by lots of lasers. And I prefer brackets for my weapons, which others dont like.

Just because people hate it doesn't make it scarry. I hate mosquitos but I'm not afraid of them. When I think I can be successful I will attempt aimed shots for legs and arms, respectively. To quote Karate Kid Part 3 "If an enemy cannot stand he cannot fight." I don't constantly make aimed shots and I'm not constantly successful. I do however have a tendency to roll leg hits. Maybe it's how I roll the dice I don't know.

I think you guys don't actually read and you just infer from posts. You really were thinking too hard though. The 'mech is nothing special. It's a 5/8 UAC 20 boat with 3 tons of ammo and a couple Pls Med Lasers. Once again, I never said it was scarry. It never was meant to be. The aimed shots I make are at 'mechs that are shutdown or immobile for some reason. I don't break rules, and we don't use house rules. This particular UAC 20 boat of mine (I have a couple others of relatively larger size) it used in close quarters fighting where range really isn't an issue. No, it doesn't have a plethora of armor but I don't use it to stand toe to toe in a slug fest. It usually doesn't hang around very long. I try and close "quickly" take my pot shots and run. If it survives then I move it around to the outside and hang around and mop up at the end if I have to if there's a 'mech that won't just die.
Once again, as I've said before; this post isn't about my UAC boat, it's about is spreading the hits and possibley getting crits worth not doing for sure damage. If you roll snakes enough that you don't use UAC's because of that then you probably have weighted dice and that'd be reason enough to use an LB-X YEAH CRITS TO THE CT! To me, other than the more chances to get a crit, LB-X's are worthless. Now if Battletech were real, which it isn't, I'd use a 'mech with an LB-X. Since it's a game I use the UAC's just because MORE DAMAGE RULES!!! WOOT!!!
