| Operation Deathmarch
(This operation was concieved and devised by the players of my Mechwarrior game.)
Objective(s):
1.) Raid/Assault Stranamechty* while clan Council is session; Destroying the Megadome while the 3300 Bloodnamed warriors are in said session of council.
2.) Anihilate any clan warriors that manage to field themselves.
3.) Dust off while Remaining Clan warriors try to establish new pecking order and gain bloodnames.
4.) Raid/Assault and Take the Pentagon worlds, while clan units are sent to Stranamechty*. |
|
Now, this is the boiled down version of the whole thing... i've been reluctant to post my questions on this because my players may verywell come here and look things up, but at this point in my game, I am seeking INPUT from the rest of you. Please be as objective as you can, this wasn't MY idea.

1.) Assault on council?!? What are the clans doing?? Sleeping? Shouldn't there be HEAVY protection (Even warships willing to use orbital bombardment to stop attackers)
2.) Probably a lot of warriors, how do you want to smuggle a force large enough to take all those warriors anxious to prove them selves.
3.) First priority: KILL THE OFFENDERS OF KERENSKY'S LEGACY.
4.) What kind of campaign is this?!?

Thank you Sleeping Dragon, i've brought this point to my players and they say they "Have a plan" for that.. as for what it is, i haven't a clue.
The Clans would NEVER use orbital Bombardment again, for one simple reason; Smoke Jags did, and Kerensky saw fit to leave them uprotected when operation bulldog Took pantera, thus crushing the clan. USe of orbital bombardment against a mechforce is Forbidden, even the cowardly Jade Falcons would never do such a thing... using their Ships to Obliterate anything in orbit, or at a Jump Point, yes.

Okay first off there is absolutly positively no way to get anywhere near that planet with out being spotted and challenged. In all likelyhood they would be destroyed LONG before they reach planet if any survive to makke planet they will find the best fighters in the universe ready and waiting and if those IDIOTS DARE to assault the Grand Council they will be declared Dezgra and NONE of the rules of Zellbrigen will be followed. and most likely a Trial of Annihilation will be declared.

To orbital bombardment, unless the players drop directly on the city with megadome the clans aren't fighting fair battle, but DEFENDING KERENSKY'S LEGACY. They'll be furious that anyone dares to disturb great meeting of the clans.
I'm not sure how they want to approach such a heavily guarded planet, We are talking about flagships with elite crew from several clans and possibly battle stations on Jump point, Strong contingent of fighters and mechs, also with highly skilled pilots. Not mentioning static defenses, I doubt that the planet lacks orbital defense systems that would turn even multiple DS landing anwhere near or to capital to sctap before they enter the atmosphere. Clans are also highly skilled with hot drops, so they probably have few tricks to make the life of any invaing force hard.
Another thing would be how to get anything larger than single civilian DS anywhere near to the planet. Clans probably occupy all jump paths that lead there and using LF batteries to make a jump from deep space should mean that some ships misjump.
The bandit caste can't back this.
I dare not to think who would provide money to pay for this, or risk that this foolish action would unite the clans and focus their fury on destroying not only the attackers, but also anyone with possible connections to them, his family, state, ... Do they have divine favor or something?
Wouldn't it be better to use Kamikadze warship loaded with nuclear warhead or something similary mad than the plan mentioned above?

as i have said before... this is my player's plan, not mine...
as for what is going to occur... i think i will let them Make it to the planet... and indeed drop for combat, but they aren'y going to like the situation they'll meet.
I am sure that the Ill-Khan would like see them try this plan, and fail, ultimately, makeing them surrender to Second Line mechwarriors. (who are going to spank them royaly)

There might be someone prepared to back this, but the players aren't going to like it.
One guy had the theory that the forces for WoB's Jihad were actually collected for annihilating a clan or two. You know, defend the IS, show some muscle, get recognition from those idiotic Great Houses. Join the new Star League in style. And then all went wrong, what with the clanners staying peaceful and the Star League disbanding.

There's actually a very simple way to do this...and the Blakeist angle brings this to mind...use a suicide bomber with a nuclear weapon. The clans have great security against an RCT, but against a terrorist...not so much.

Assaullt Strana mechty. Not a chance. First off. All the clans have the best of their top units stationed there (The Kelshik units) usally 1 cluster (around 10-15 warrior) And these are no honor guards. these are battle proven troops.
That's 10-15 troops per clan. and there are 13 clans. With top of the line mechs and armor.
as for the bombing idea. again. No chance. aside from the many warships that each Khan uses for a ride. The council has a McKenna class warship in orbit for the IlKhan and Ilclan use.
So that's 14 warships and over 130 ground troops. with re-enforcements just a jump (3 days I think) away.
And just to clearfy. If the Khan anbd saKhan where all wiped out. the clan most senior booldnamed warrior wouild assume control of the clan until anothe Khan could be elected.
So. attacking Strana Mechty is about as advisable as the Clans attacking terra with the Word of Blake finger over a nulcear device.
possable. But not advisable
