1.) it may divert funds elsewhere, but it can also let you obtain some funds for you from people who believe in it.
5.) to Grossman's model (as presented in the article). You want to tell me that you go to school / work without your mech and you don't throw fireballs at your boss for lowering your wage?

I have Grossman's Book, "On Killing."
The guy who wrote this article mischaracterizes Grossman's thesis is a small, but significant way. Grossman argues, I think compellingly, that there is little difference between the 1st person shooters he saw (he wrote the book in the mid-90s) and the training simulations he conducted as a trainer in the Special Forces.
The one difference was, in a training session, the soldier only fired under orders and was severely penalized for firing under the wrong circumstances.
He ealborates to say that his concern with videogames (in the mid-90s) is that they lacked a comprable "shoot-no shoot" regimen. His critique was fairly narrow, and I think mostly outdated with developments in gameplay and the very shoot-no shoot situations he saw as lacking in the contemporary games.
Grossman didn't obect to "Age of Empires," at least not in the book. _________________ "Politics is the Art of looking for trouble, finding it everywhere, misdiagnosing the problem, and applying the wrong solution."

I referred to what was written in the article (edited my post to reflect that) and as usual, I wasn't too serious

Someone had a quote on their website, and Ill try to find the site and the person quoted. It was direct and summed up the whole video game/violence thing.
"Video games dont influence people. If video games influenced our generation, we would all be wandering through a darkened maze, listening to repetative music, and munching little white pills"
Gotta love that Pac Man (originally titled Puck Man, though you can guess why the name was changed).
