Ares, this is if you didn't read the other post. I have played the game, and even then was unsure what the exact arament was. This is where I got my info. http://www.almasymarquis.com/mgconfidential/metalgearrex.html

2xg12.7 mm in the nose (covering 60 arc to the front)
Air Ordinance: 3xPhalanga-F (AT-3 "Rain From Heaven") Radio-guided anti-troop missiles.
Rail Gun: 18.5 m Rail GUn (Special Ops Optimum Bombardment 422 "Widowmaker", launch tube: Standard (conventional, nuclear)
Laser: Armstech International V17 Vulcan Cannon Searing LaserStorm High Energy Cutter "Slice'n'Dice" (covering 90 arc [ CLASSIFIED ])
Ammunition: 10.000x12.7 mm, 72 Phalange-F Reds, Laser Pro Pack, 1x Cruise AGM-129 ACM
Length (gun forward): 18.9m
Length (hull): 7.455mm Width: 5.70 m
Height (gun forward): 12m
Height (gun up): 13m
Weight (combat): 505.450kg
Power-to-weight Ratio: 450hp/ton Engine: Armstech AGM 4000 "Behemoth" [ CLASSIFIED ]
Maximum Road Speed: 140.777 km/h
Maximum Range: 1.505km
Fuel Capacity: 5.550lit
Armor: [ CLASSIFIED ] Armor (type): Laminate/Steel
NBS System: Yes
Night Vision Equipment: Yes

Based on that info I made the MG: REX. I wasn't trying to make RAY.

Okay let's go over it:

2xg12.7 mm in the nose (covering 60 arc to the front)

I may be mistaken. I admit that, but my view on those two were 2 machine guns.

Air Ordinance: 3xPhalanga-F (AT-3 "Rain From Heaven") Radio-guided anti-troop missiles.

I was thinking if it was Anti-troop meant SRMs.

Rail Gun: 18.5 m Rail GUn (Special Ops Optimum Bombardment 422 "Widowmaker", launch tube: Standard (conventional, nuclear)

I was thinking a LGR, b/c of the proposed range of the weapon. The Rail guy was supposed to get a missle into the atmosphere. I was going for range.

Finally, Laser: Armstech International V17 Vulcan Cannon Searing LaserStorm High Energy Cutter "Slice'n'Dice" (covering 90 arc [ CLASSIFIED ])

We both agree on this one, if you've ever seen the laser in MGS you know it shoots and lasts... sounds like a pulse laser to me.

I by no way claim that my site is official. If you have a link to a more official site then lay it on me. Please. I would rather be wrong now, and have the right info.

And seeing as this is based on something that's not Battletech if anyone is going to be disagreeable in their disagreement of his translation then they should be finding a Heavy Gear board to post on.

Metal Gear, bar-keep....Heavy Gear is another P&P war game using mecha...and is really cool.

What program did you use to design it?

I have never played Heavy Gear. So I have no idea if this is a good design or not.

Agh...stop confusing Metal Gear with Heavy Gear!

Metal Gear is a series of video games dating back to the NES which has recently made it to PSX and PS2. These games focused on several large 'mecha dudes capeable of wasting lots of shiznit. The games are played in the perspective of a special agent bent on taking control of and/or destroying said mecha.

Heavy Gear is a pen and paper war game, much like Battletech, that is a war between 2 factions of some people. The Gears are like 'mechs, bit slightly more agile due to their much smaller size. The game focuses on the mecha themselves.

Heavy Metal is a type of music that had its best time in the 80s with bands like KISS and Alice Cooper. This one should not be confused with either game...although there is a FPS game called KISS: Psycho Circus. I recomend against playing it as it is known to lead to permanent loss of brain cells.

dammit Chihawk, I disagreed with his first design, not the others. Falco, I'm sorry for putting my first post into a context where it could be taken offensively, it was supposed to come off as factual. I haven't been able to access the site you posted (froze my comp 3 for 3 times) but I have no reason to oppose the information now, except that I don't know who published the site. I have no other sites though, and yours sounds reasonable enough to me. Anyways, I disagreed with the first one because the whole idea of the game revolved around the "theatre missile defense system" Otacon said it had, it sounded like a short range anti-cruise missile type thing, not a anti-infantry weapon like it had when you fought it. I agree with the LGR, otacon said it was designed to just shoot projectiles out with no propellent, bypassing the START 2 treaty.

In case you're wondering I do have fluff, to explain how mecha from another game got to the BTech universe.

I figure that on an excavation site on Earth some people might find an old datacore(talking late 2100s at latest) and it was sent to NAIS for research. On that datacore was found plans for a "walking battle tank" (hence why all the parts I have listed are either almost unobtainable or in close proximity to New Avalon, fluff wise). This "Walking Battle Tank" was very primitive by comparison to modern battlemechs, using gears and pistons to move. This blueprint was brought to the attention of a mech designer who decided for his graduate project he would redesign this model using modern technology. Word got around about this "crazy project" and eventually Corean Enterprises offered sponsored him, if he gave a reasonable price tag. With a cheap (comparatively) price of 3,895,425 C-Bills, the aggreed to make a production model of this mech. Not surpisingly the student graduated top of his class.

And Ares, with an explination like that I can understand... and explain. A theatre missile defense system is a system that detects the launch of Nuclear ICBMs and launches numerous missle to intercept and destroy it before it reaches it's intended target.

ICER I used The Drawing Board.

The one on the top (the BTech version) is from TDB, the otherone I just grabbed from a page, it's the Metal Gear Solid Statistics for Metal Gear REX.

Ares, you can disagree all you'd like, nothing wrong with that at all.

If you're going to be disagreeable doing it you can go elsewhere. That is not acceptable behavior here at Mordel's.

So there's no confusion...disagree all you'd like; be an asshole about it then take a hike.

Understood?

ok, I'm tired of backing everything up. Chihawk, I'm not trying to be an ass about this, but it seems that in every post I have about this topic I come off as being one. You just pissed me off in your earlier post, I took that as being a cheap shot. So, I'm just gonna drop this right here and not even check the topic again. Sorry for pissing you two off.

For those who don't know what Metal Gear REX looks like, here's a blueprint like pic.
