I am not sure I like the XL but I think it may be one of the few cases where it actually works. I like the speed increase and the addition of jump jets.

==Overview:==
The HBK-4G Hunchback is a heavy-hitting fighting vehicle. Serving in
medium and assault lances of many regiments of the Successor States, it has
earned a distinguished fighting record. Designed in early 2572, the Hunchback
continues as a popular vehicle both in House Liao and House Kurita regiments.
It is also used extensively by House Marik armed forces.
The Hunchback is widely known for its streetfighting abilities in the
confined spaces of urban battles. With its massive firepower at close range
and its two heavy battle fists, it is more than a match for many heavier
'Mechs.

==Capabilities:==
The Hunchback is armed for short- to medium-range combat. At medium
ranges, its combined armament of two Ichiba 2000 medium lasers and its massive
Defiane Disintegrator UAC 20 can rip through even the heaviest armor.
The new 13G is a Stiner conversion of the few remaning Hunchback they
have in thier armies. It replaces the AC with a massive UAC 20 AC and upgrades
the engine to a XL, Though the designers are a little unhappy about the
addition of the Xl it has llows for ner maximum armor coverage and a boost in
speed. The upgraded of the engine allows it to keep pace with the Shadowhawks
and Griffins out there. They also added Jumb jets to the frame to give the new
Hunchback unheard of manuverability. Though this does lighten the armor high
command is hopeing the new 13G will be able to compete and surprise the unwary
opponet.

HBK and XL ideas usually don't fit well together, but maybe this time...

I'm not sure if the speed offsets the XL, especially in combination with short ranged weapons. Field trials will decide, but I'm not the one who wants to make them

quite expensive variant, facing other AC/20 design would be fatal. If there is enough space, I would try small laser and full armor instead of armor (and/or relocating armor to protect side torsos).

What you really want is the Steiner Hunchback HBK-5S from RS:Upgrades. Light engine, two MPLs, the original SL, LB-20X AC, endo steel, full armor and jump jets.

The slower Steiner mod makes more sense. Hunchies do not need to be fast and the big XL engine is too much a vulnerability imo.

I have less of a problem with XL's than a lot of you old timers, but I agree with this statement completely. My only gripe with the steiner variant is that the SL is usually wasted since in my games it never sees use. But then thats cause most opponents I face in the Hunch are down for the count before I get that close.

I think I made something cheaper as liao 3060 refit kit. It lacks pulses, but runs pretty cool and jumps too (and without special engine )

My HBK mod, that i haven't posted had.

1. AC-20 with 2 tons ammo
2. ERLarge laser
3. CASE
4. 1 med laser
5. FF armor

its a really weird design but bleh. People get confused when i fire a large at them. They charge in to take a 20 shell in the face an another blast from the large and medium !

There are many other interesting HBK refits in TRO, Seraph's HBK-5X is quite similar to your design.
