Kind of basic fluff. But just got to looking at it and realized how much I dislike Machineguns on assult mechs. (yeh I know they are useful but that is just me). Anyway this is a bsic change. Down grades the SRM6 to a 4, adds 2 Medium lasers and maxes the armor.

Let me know what you think.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
==Overview:==
Even during the Star League era, the number of manufacturers capable of
building a 'Mech like the BLR-1G was limited. After they won the bid to
construct the 'Mech, Hollis Industries began production of the BattleMaster in
2830. Designed to be the largest and the most powerful 'Mech ever fielded by
the Star League armies, the BLR-1G filled the bill.
The 'Mech's sheer size required special manufacturing facilities, which
meant that Hollis could build the BattleMaster on only a few planets. The cost
and materials for the 'Mech also limited production somewhat.

==Capabilities:==
The firepower that the BattleMaster can generate in one volley is
staggering and more than deadly at close range. The reliable Donall PPC is its
main fire weapon, with the laser systems as close support fire.
The BattleMaster is one of the few 'Mechs with Rear mounted medium
lasers. The 7G model removes the machine guns and ammo for an extra pair of
forwrd faceing medium lasers. And replaces the SRM 6 with a 4 rack and 1 ton
of ammo.

I would call it optimization. It cannot move and fire all close range weapons without overheating, but careful pilot can deal with this. In 3025 era overheating is normal.

I was looking at the heat issue and its really not that bad. Firing all 6 med's will net you 18 heat + your walk or run of 1 or 2 and the SRM is only +3 points of heat so your looking at generating 23 points of heat at a dead run. You can vent 18 points and be up only +5. You can off set that though by only firing 4 the next round and dropping back down. Or just ride the heat for a bit till your opponet is a twisted burning mass of steel.

You also added 2 tons of armor. I like the increased laser barrage but dislike the aforementioned heat burden. Why not leave the armor alone and add 2 heatsinks instead?

I will admit I prefer to have full or near full armor for any mech, but especially assaults. I have been considering removing 1 ton for a HS. But I didnt really think going up by 5 at close range to be that bad. Now granted if you add in the PPC at close range you will run into major heat problems. But I really see most assaults as bracket fighters. And with a min of 3 on the ppc you really wont be using it hat much anyway. And for the most part if you have to fire your rear arc you cn always not fire a pair of meds to compinsate.

What I would use for a short range volley.
18 - 6 Medium lasers = 35 damge
3 - SRM 4
1 - walk
22 - total heat
-18 - For heat sinks
+4 on the heat scale

Next round
12 - 4 medium lasers = 20
3 - Srm 4
1 - Walk
16 - Total heat
+4 - from last round
20 - total heat
-18 Heat sinks
+2 on the heat scale

And so on. Mean while with the extra Armor you can last in the field much longer. simply because you can absorbe more damge. And if your target is still around after that mabey run up the heat a bit more and take him down. the ability to do 35 points at short range with out the SRM numbers (simply because they are so random) is going to hurt anyone. And if done 2 rounds in a row you go up to +8 (or +10 if you have been running) on the Heat scale. That is only -1 mp (-1 gunnery if you have been running) but then you can easily combinsate for that by switching to a pair of meds to cool down. Depending on dice and initive not much is going to survive a couple 70+ point rounds. Granted that is if everything hits.

No problem, i can ride the heat alittle. But moving at 4 instead of 6 and firing the 6 forward medium lasers and SRM4 nets me around 22 heat.

No biggie as long its withnin the magic number.

The armor on the mech is good however.
