Ahhhh the Battlemaster. My favorite fo the assault mechs and the one I have the most fun playing with (even if the designs are hugly flawed).

BUT this one I really really like.

Ok a bit more ammo dependent than I like. but it can run and fire its primary weapon a bran spankin new UAC10 ( I can already hear the cries of why not an LB-X) with 40 rounds of ammo (ok 20 in ultra mode) and 8 freakin Medium lasers and only overheat by 2! Yes it is gonig to have trouble with alpha striking but then again most mechs do.

As awlays tell me what you think.

Nasty firepower, but I would shave off one ton of armor and replace the rear facing small lasers with mediums, and another half ton for CASE in right torso. Heat dissipation is good, but XL forces this BLR to be much more careful.

You head out?

Edit: Umm, maybe moving two lasers to left arm instead of MGs and those rear facing guns to side torsos to keep with original placing of guns.

Could also just shave half a ton of armour, replace the two smalls with a single medium and then add CASE. It reduces the number of chances to hit in the rear arc, but it helps to preserve the armour.

CRAP!! I cant believe I missed the Case! here just a sec.

Ok this replaces the LRM 10 with a pair of 5 launchers and 2 tons ammo ( I figure that one ton is going to be special ammo) and replaces the Small's with 2 mediums.

And I just have one thing to add GWAD I FREAKING HATE IS HEAT SINKS!!!!!!!!! (there I feel better.)

Ok. I don't like it. to many medium lasers, small lasers should be replaced by machine guns and ammunition, and heat sinks can be shaved away. Saved weight goes into more ammunition for the Ultra AC 10.

If you want, you can also replace the rear firing medium lasers with a single rear firing medium pulse laser.

Basically over powered, over heat sinked, and with so much room for extra BOOM! through the AC/10

Bad idea, his mech already has 4 tons of ammo. Anymore will be begging for lucky crit hits.

MGs are not great on this beast. A better bet will be flamers.

Now that is evil. I'm so not sure about the LRMs, but I geuss they work as a ranged weapon. But the autocannon is fine and the lasers are great.

But since you mentioned it, I'll ask; why did you choose the Ultra over the LBX?

Damge potential for the most part. Though I have been kicking around an idea for a LBX version.

I try to avoide Pulse beause, well to put it bluntly, I hate them. I dont like machineguns on assaults to much either. Just more ammo to go boom.

And this is a first;
Quote:

It already has 4 tons of ammo for that AC. Not sure how adding more is going to be good. Firing that frontal barrge is going to net you (if both shots hit) 60 points of damge if you hit with everything, and 33 (34 with a run) points of heat. Now I suppose you could push the heat up a bit more if you wanted to. And you can do that for 20 rounds if you fire the UAC in Ultra mode every round.

But at this point I am not sure why.

here is the LBX version. I think I actually like this one a bit more.

Variants:
The BLR-D8 switches out the Ultra AC for a LBX AC of the same caliber. This frees up enough weight to add artemis fire control systems to the LRM's and 3 ER small lasers. Though this does hurt the heat scale a bit the added damge is deemed worth it. The LRM ammunition system does pose bit of a problem as the launchers feed mechanism are interconnected. This allows the BLR to carry multiple ammunition types. The most common appear to be 1 ton standrd and one ton Mag pulse.
