OK, so I'm studying theories of judicial decision making and decisions on hearing a case and watching the Roberts confirmation hearing and thought: hmmm, I wonder how people on this bulletin board decide what to read and what to post...
So I ask: What gets you clickin? What gets you typing?
For me, if the topic of conversation is a rule mechanic, an RPG question, or something esoteric, I'll read it.
If it has Chihawk, Vagabond, Stinger, Ralgith, or Motown posting, I'll read it. A couple of others are starting to move up into this rank too.
If it looks funny, I'll read it. Unless it's one of Motown's links. Eight times burned, ninth time shy. I still haven't recovered from Hic-a-bic-a-Nurse.
I post when I have something valuable to add, more than just a ditto. Or if I have a witicism or a question to throw out.
So, to you: what gets the click? What gets the type? _________________ "Politics is the Art of looking for trouble, finding it everywhere, misdiagnosing the problem, and applying the wrong solution."

Almost anything, I try to read all new posts, and reply, if there is something to say (rules, designs, I try to make meaningful reply), or I have something to say (that doesn't mean that it makes sense).
Edit: Design Submissions, B&G, General Discussion and Off Topic, in that order. Other areas rarely see me (or I see them, that depends on point of view).

When reading battletech threads I tend to avoid the rules changing threads, like proposals for alternate LRm rules and such.
Aside from a few custom rules like my house rule MGs I leave the rules alone and just roll the dice.
But other threads I do take the time to look at, even if I don't post in most of them.

I read every new post in General Discussion, Design Submissions, Mordel´s Bar and Grill and Off Topic.
I´m interested especially in new designs and custom rules.
If I´ve something to say (may it be usefull or funny!) I´ll post. But if all I´ve to say is said by others in that topic before I´ll not post
(I try not to " give my mustard" [throw in my two cents] to everything!)

For me if the topic thread title sounds interesting then I will look at it more closely.
I look for the threads that say What about this or cover things about if this happen or that. If I am in the Design area I look at the new stuff that get's posted and offer what I can IF I like what I see or want to be of help to the person. Rule changes and such are also interesting and if I can follow what the person is suggesting I will comment on it and off ideas. If not I will wait for more info or post a question or two about it.
Off topic area, well there if things are going along at an interesting rate I will add my 10 cent worth etc...
I try to post topics that have folks thinking or at least comparing points. Hence a lot of my what if this or that postings. I think these are a good way to get folks talking and allow new folks to see how deep the BT universe is and can be a very interesting and entertaining world of adventure outside of the mechs.

General, design, OT:
I click anything light, No getting heavily bogged down for me. And I type in the precious few where my opinion will have any impact or relevance.
B&G:
Anything with a new post in it gets my clicky.
Anything I feel wont make a fool of me, I will say.

I tend to read most topics thoroughly, and i also try to post as may different discussion topics about things in battlemech as i enjoy other peoples opinions.
I tend to do alot of 'your favorite..' and things like that. I guess most people would be bored of them but i enjoy hearing other peoples tactics, mechs, weapons, rules and the like as i think it diversifies my gaming experience. I also enjoy constructive critism of myself. (not often a brit says that!)
I just tend to post on things which catch my interest or more importantly, where my opinion would matter. Therefore i dont post that often!

I will look at just about any new post. I don't do the cards though. I will post on topics I find interesting and can contribute to. Sometimes my contribution is rather weak, sometimes it's meaningful. But if it pops into my head and it's clean enough for the general population then I'll put it up. I especially like hearing people's war stories from the games they're played, both lately and in the past. I also enjoy writing and reading in the fiction section, though the writing bug hasn't bitten me in quite a while.

Thank you for the compliment SaberDance .
For me it has to grab my attention for me to click. (there are some here that I have never read just because I didnt feel complled to read them), but that is only the general section. I try to read all new designs. Ill post if I have something to add, and if it hasent been said before, if its been said I still may post but tend not to.

I read the odd post in the General Discusion forum, but usually stick to the B&G and off topic stuff now... I haven't played the game in so long that I don't usually have anything constructive to add.
Plus I ususally only post now when there is the opportunity to add some sort of joke... but that's just the way I am.

Lately since I own my PC(finally) I take a look in an overall.
1st language barrier play a big role,so I took my time, and try to understand(exepted x slung )If there.'s a poll I gave my opinion, about rule changes,it depend if they are complicating more my beloved CBT game.
(there was long time ago a guy who proposed
rules changed about infantry really interesting).About new design,I don\'t care so much(there are ready a lot of them).
Basically I'm interester in what could understand

Generally, I read everything, though I often get lazy with the design submissions and only read the ones that Vagabond created, and sometimes I get distracted and forget that I am logged in and wander off... so usually then the threads not read yet are not read.
As for posting... who, me? Post? When do I ever do a thing like that?

Thanks for the vote of confidance Saberdance, I do hope you read the Demonte Love links though they are serious and he is absoulutly amazing.
I read all on General Discussion , Design, B&G Off Topic and Salloon I post where there is something that, Interrsts, amuses, or annoys me. ( The leftys in the Saloon hate me! I show no mercy there.) I try to either inform or amuse. (O.K. Some of my links can be taken to annoy) I am blessed with the ability to read fast so I can read a lot in a short time.
