Umm Excessive ammounts of ammo? The pilot can fire them at the same range as the PPC's, with the long range ammo. Then switch to the Standard ammo (which does 2 points a missle) to conserve the long range ammo. Then switch the ammo again when he gets inclose to the HE which does 3 points a missle. At short range with the SSRM 6 and the ATM's along with a PPC blast your going to be putting a serious hurt on the enemy.

You have enough ammo to stay away for 20 rounds, than close for 20 rounds and stay in contact (ATM short) for another 20 rounds. Even assault won't last that long, so this is explosive amount of ammo (not so problematic on clan, but loosing side torso will hurt it a lot because of the XL engine).

With dropping some ammo you may have some heat sinks, that would allow you to use missiles and either lasers and PPC or both PPCs.

Dropping SRMs would allow the ATM-3s to be replaced with ATM-9s and DHS.

Dropping ATMs would allow two more sSRM-6s with ammo and DHS.

last two possibilities look much more like original, but IICs can differ a lot

My Thug IIC keeps the ES but goes for a standard engine. 18 DHS, 2XERPPC, 3XSSRM6 with 2 tons ammo, mazimum armor. Cheap, effective, deadly and second-line. Use the expensive XL engines for omnis.

Ya know I slept on this thought last night and when I woke up this morning I have to agree with you. I may have to rework it a bit to see what I like and what I dont. What I find horrible is the fact that the ATM's are just a MERC commanders dream weapon, and I at time keep viewing clan mechs as I would a mech for my mercenary company. /shrug some habits are hard to break

Shh.. everything will be aright

By the way, clans actually tend to give their mechs less ammo than usual.

I will die a happy man once a clanner actually puts enough rounds in a UAC20 for 10 rounds of double fire.
