C'mon admit it guys. Let me start the first answer.

I adhere to the design specs most of the time but if my friends do otherwise, i don't mind ignoring the rules.

Edit: This is assuming the Omni has Endo-Steel / FF or both constructed into the mech and has the location of the crits fixed.

Not gonna lie, I rarely use Omnis.

I go with an Omni's stated allocation. Always, every time.

Even on the (few) Omnis I've made myself, I always follow the ES/FF/HS placement. I do occasionally cheat by changing the base allocation to fit my configs after I've got them. But even then, I don't change between one config and the next.

I follow the allocations if I ever use omnis. Heat sinks aren't thrown out to make room for big low-heat weapons. And of course, I try to remember picking off hands and lower arms for big guns. To do otherwise would be cheating.

But that brings me to another question... Jump jets. I know they're pod-mountable on omnis, but what if the base chassis has them? Can you dump the jets?

What's an Omni?

AWAD- Swapping an LRM 5 for an SRM 4 is an Omni as I get.

I'm with AWAD here. Thunder LRM in the left rack, Semi-Guided in the right rack. That's omni enough for me.

Just out of curiosity, what are these Internal Structure rules?

Basically when an Omni is designed to integrate ES/FF, those things take up crits. And rules state that those crits cannot be moved around. Its fixed.

But i know plenty who ignore it.

I don't think you can dump the jets...of course, I don't know why anyone would put fixed jump jets on an omni in the first place. Why sacrifice the flexibility.

If its just for a mechwarrior, I'll just mess with the weapons. The structure stays the same.

If its for a commander of batallion/trinary level or higher, I may move an endo steel here or there (their techs could move the anchor points or whatever...), but not drastically.

Depends, I dont do to much with omnis, just the timberwolf that I have posted that I have moved things around on. But for the most part I will follow it if we have to, if no one cares then I will move things around.

If the base has JJ these are fixed equipment and cannot be removed.
Some Omnis exist with fixed JJ for ease of maintenance/standard tactics for new warriors (fluff text as i remember).

That are the rules and I´ll obeye them!
To be serious: Omnis are very flexible and if you make them even more flexible by shifting around fixed items I think it´s a bit too good!
So fixed equipment/structure is .....erm...fixed!
Don´t try to "unfix" it!

I always obey the rule, no changes of equipment fixed on base chassis. I distribute structure around custom omnis to allow mounting big guns in one torso, so I may leave hand actuators in place when I wish to do so.

When I make record sheets for omni I write only fixed equipment with pen and then just use pencil and rubber to change config so I use omni-sheets too (ya know, I like to write ...)

What? I'm the ONLY person who owns up to fudging with the crits? Man...
