Warhammer: 3025 Freelance Captain, AFFC (Ret.)

I'm working on a new custom weapon, a sort of hybrid between the Gauss Rifle and the AC/10.
The range is the same as the AC/10: 5/10/15.
The damage is that of the Gauss Rifle: 15 points.
Ammo capacity/ton is as the Gauss Rifle: 8 shots.
Ammo does not explode when hit, but the weapon does.
It weighs 15 tons, as the Gauss Rifle, but only takes up 6 crits instead of 7.
Generates 2 heat when fired.
Are there any obvious balancing issues I've overlooked? Is it too heavy for what it does? Too light? Should it be bigger/smaller?
I'd appreciate any help you can give.

Well, it seems like a GR with doubled heat and a range dropped from 22 to 15!
All that only to have 1 crit less??
Is there anything special?
(I think you want that 1 crit because you want to put 2 of these in one Torso, right??)

I haven't slept in 3 days. Severe insomnia.
I'm semi-delusional right now...definately not thinking clearly.
It probably needs to be lightened.

This one has the weight and range of an AC/10, with two more damage and two less ammo. Not a big difference.
Any fluff behind this weapon? How does it work? That might help in evaluating it's stats.

The Automatic Gauss Rifle improves upon the standard Gauss Rifle the way conventional automatic rifles improved upon their bolt-action forebears: instead of firing a single slug inside the space of say, 10 seconds, the AGR can fire many slugs.
Unfortunately, much of the power imparted to the slug by the single-shot Gauss Rifle is lost by the automatic rifle, thus decreasing damage inflicted per slug by a considerable amount. This is partially made up for by volume of fire.
Instead of the single 1/8th-ton nickel-ferrous ball fired by normal Gauss Rifles, the AGR carries 8 clips of nickel-ferrous "spikes", designed with penetration, rather than sheer kinetic damage, in mind. However, the loading mechanism of the AGR has neccessitated the incliusion of one major flaw in the ammunition: they lack any kind of stabilizing system. Without even fins to help guide their flight, they tend to begin "wobbling" after a certain distance, drastically cutting their penetrative power. This flaw still leaves the AGR a moderate range, but it is not the long-range killer that is its' forebear.

At what range does the wobble begin? Perhaps a change in the ranges is in order. Say like : 6/11/15 Or perhaps add modifiers to hit at longer ranges and increase base range : 6/12/18 with 0/+1/+2 to hit.

Well, I'd say the wobbling begins at about 400-450 meters, bleeding off drastic amounts of kinetic power.
The wobbling can begin at just about any range: it's the reason for the weapon having a shorter range than the normal Gauss Rifle.

At 12 damage, it can decapitate another mech's head still which is an important factor.

With all posts read. Maybe it can be something like ultra gauss?
What about using the range, heat, damage, maybe ammo, but allowing it more shots per round?
