SCH-3R Schutze

Mass: 50 ton
Chassis: GC 500 Lite Endo Steel
Power Plant: GM 250
Cruising Speed: 54 kph
Maximum Speed: 86 kph
Jump Jets: none
   Jump Capacity: none
Armor: StarGuard 3056 Ferro-Fiberous with CASE
Armament:
1 Victory Nickel Alloy ER Large Laser
   1 Martell Medium Laser
1 Imperator "Code Red" LB 10-X AC
1 Diverse Optics ER Small Laser
Manufacturer: Grumium Creations
   Primary Factory: Grumium
Communications System: Garret T20C
Targeting and Tracking System: Garret D2j

Overview:
Designed as Grumium Creations first medium mech contender entry
for its bid to replace the various assorted medium mechs in the
KungsArme. The requirement was simple, the mech had to be cheaply
produced with the cost at least 6 million C-bill or below but still
has to be able to be versatile and mount enough of a payload to be
   competitive.
Thus the Schutze is Grumium Creations answer.

---------------------------------------------------------

Capabilities:
"Schutze" or "Soldier" in old Terra German language is the arch
typical medium mech design that harks back to the old days of the
Star League and insanity of the Succession Wars. Its main strength
lies in its reliabiility and general ease of maintainence.

Primary weapons constitude of a 120 millimeter Imperator "Code
Red" Luxor ballistic autocannon and a large Victory Nickel Alloy
laser, both imported from the courtesy of the DCMS. The "Code Red" is
capable of firing massive single Depleted Uranium slugs or the deadly
cluster shot which peppers the enemy with DU flechette. The 2 tons of
ammo give the pilots a degree of tactical flexibility and are CASED
   up for safety.

The extended large laser serve as an additional puncher at longer
range. A single Martell medium laser and a small Diverse Optic
extended range laser rounds out the weapon's package.

In order to carry all that rather impressive payload without
resorting to XL engines which would be too expensive, GC used plenty
of lightening construction on the mech. Endo-Steel was de rigeur on
many of GC previous designs and continue to show a presence on the
Schutze while 9 tons of bulky Ferro Fibrous armor gave the mech more
protection when compared to regular armor. All this while still
moving at 86 kilometres an hour. The lack of the XL engine also made
the Schutze far easier to maintain, which is an important factor when
it see service in regular and militia forces.

Interesting point to note is that the Schutze arms seem to
resemble closely that of a Thor and have proven to be able to switch
weapons quickly. The left arm has proven to be very adaptable in
handling different ballistic weapons. In fact only the Gauss rifle
variant required some more modifications. The right arm like wise has
proven to easily adapt to any energy weapon. Suffice to say, while
this isn't really Omni-tech, the Schutze can swap its main weapons in
under 3 hours which is massive advantage for any regular KungsArme
forces on the fields of battle.

Aside from the quick swap technology. the most important point
about the Schutze is, ALL of its variants cost below 5 million C-bill
which is at least 1 million below the projected price. The high
degree of "Green mechwarrior proofness" and low price is definitely
   attractive enough for sure.

Deployment:
Currently being field tested by various Comstar and KungArme
units, the Schutze has received nothing but praise so far. The ease
of maintainence, easy replacement of main weapons and resillent have
scored it high marks. The only compliant is the lack of jumpjets but
the jump capable 6R is undergoing trials.

----------------------------------------------------------

Variants:
4R- A complete deviation of the main design, this variant mounts
a single massive Dragon's Fire Gauss rifle and 3 medium lasers for
   short range defence.
5R- More of a long range suppressive fire design, the 5R mounts a
Lord Light's II extended range PPC and an Imperator Automatic
Weaponary Ultra Class AC5 which fires 70mm DU shells in twice the
rate of the normal AC5. Short range weapons come in the form of a
medium laser and Er small laser similar to that of the 3R.
6R- The jumpjet variant. It mounts an Ultra Class AC5 and a
large ER laser as principal armaments. A lone medium laser rounds out
the weapon's package. More of a jump sniper then anything else
   though.

Nice. However, it seems to resemble an enforce with an LBX instead of an Ultra (especially the JJ variant)

You were inspired by me to give your Mech a german name?
By the way : Schütze was the name of the Archer in the translated german BT-box!
I´ve begun playing with the english originals because of the bad translation and the fact, that all Mechs were given german names that really sound odd in some examples!
