M1 Garand, for the simplicity, reliability, power, and that wonderful *pop-PING* sound it makes when it ejects the clip.

Desert Eagle, for the raw power, lethality, and intimidation factor.

AK-47, because the weapon is simplicity itself. Power, range, and easy maintenance in one lethal package.

M1911. Reliability, and one of the best (and longest-running) service records of any model firearm in history.

M82A1 Barret Light 50cal Sniper Rifle.

Its got mind boggling stats. 1500m effective range, the fact that you cant fire it from a standing or crouching position without massive recoil. But i guess that its the fact that you can put a bullet through four cars bumper to bumper and still have 800meters of high velocity range.

As far as sniper rifles go, its a bit unwieldy for full army issue, But its ability to take out T60's and T55's by penetrating the armour and crew is simply astonishing.

Oh yeah, the Barret can just blow through those older tanks like nothing. Here is an interesting large bore rifle, it fires a special high velocity 15.2mm APFSDS (Armor Piercing Fin Stabilized Discarding Sabot) round that houses a tiny dart. So, it is a tiny dart with the force of a 15.2mm round, and it can do some serious damage. It is the Steyr IWS 2000.

Here is the round compaired to the standard NATO 7.62x51mm round.

Here is the round broken down.

You can clearly see the dart inside the sabot.

I agree with you on all of those choices but one Warhammer. The Desert Eagle is a big gun and gives you the intimidation factor, but it is very unpractical. It is heavy, and has only an 8 rounds. I just cannot think up a practical use.

It's for when you absolutely, positively, HAVE to drop the other guy in one shot.

The sheer size of the round causes massive tissue disruption around the point of impact. As one person put it, "the entry wound is the size of your thumb. The exit wound is the size of a volleyball."

The round still won't penetrate most body armors, but it is guaranteed to break bones when it hits.

Also, the clip size is the same as the standard-issue M1911A1: 7 rounds (+1 in the chamber).

True, true Warhammer, it will break bones if it does not break the body armor. I like the history of the Colt 1911A1. It has been battle tested in every major conflict of the 20th century. WWI and II, Korea, Vietnam, Mogadishu, etc. It was the standard sidearm of the U.S. Military for almost 80 years, until we adopted the Berretta 92fs. It was adopted only becasue the rest of NATO wanted to standardize all its ammo, and America was the odd man out with the good old .45.

NATO standardized rounds

Pistol/Sub Machine Gun- 9x19mm Luger
Assault Rifle/Squad Automatic Weapon- 5.56mm (.223 Remington)
Sniper Rifle- 7.62x51mm
Large Bore Rifle- 12.7x99mm (.50 BMG)
Heavy Machinegun- 12.7x99mm (.50 BMG)
Grenade Launcher Shell- 40mm

The Dessert Bagle is also quite big for a pistol. Many people will find it all but impossible to use one-handed, at least when it's time to release the slide after feeding it a new clip. It's a big, heavy and clumsy piece. That's why the Israelis turned it down and went for the Jericho 9mm pistols instead.

My personal favorites are simply weapons I've used and liked.

The Finnish Valmet/Sako assault rifle in 7.62X39 is just as reliable as it's Soviet daddy but has much better sights. http://world.guns.ru/assault/as43-e.htm

The best pistol I've used? FN HP-DA, sold as the Browning BDA9 in the US. Even with a double-stack magazine this one fits my hand well, and the 9mm is a controllable load.
http://world.guns.ru/handguns/hg104-e.htm

Best hunting rifle? That's a tough one, but any Sako is going to be a quality piece. I think the most fun is my own Sako Finnfire in .22LR. You can plink away all day without getting tired, and the accuracy is really great. http://www.rifleshootermag.com/featured_rifles/srimfire_0227/

Well, one of the best bolt action rifle in the world would of course have to be the rifle the pioneered the modern bolt action, the Mauser Gewher 1898. It had power, range, ease of handling, and it was cheap to mass produce. They are all over the world, and still used as a police/hunting rifle in Germany, dispite being designed over a century ago. Here is a visual.

5 round internal magazine, 8mm Mauser or 7.92 Mauser.

Lets not forget that Mauser also designed and built the first auto-loading pistol, the C-96 'Broomhandle'. It was built in the early 1900s, and was produced up until about the 1950s. It fired a 7.63mm Mauser cartridge , and during WWII was converted to fire 9mm Luger ammo. Here is a visual.

The peacemaker is nice but I like the Remington outlaw 1875 better, I think it has a stronger frame, more support for the barrel if you drop it, with with more weight there, likely more controllable recoil. I have a repro one from Uberti in .357 magnum with the nice long barrel. Whether I shoot it with that or .38 special, the recoil is easy to control.

Someday I intend to own a pair of these, with consecutive serial numbers. One for each hand since I am pretty much ambidextrous when it comes to point and shoot with either hand. And no, I never hold a handgun with both hands. If you need both hands to aim a gun... go buy a rifle.

Winshester 73 is one I want but don't have, might have got one this summer, but I had to put a new roof on the house instead.

Mosin-Nagant WWII russian bolt-actio rifles, I have one, thinking hard about getting the shorter M-44 carbine version. A Mosin isn't fancy, but it works simply and reliably and mine has really grown on me.

Luger and Walther P-38. I keep telling myself I will get one of each in very good shape, WWII ones. But other stuff keeps getting in the way and they are not getting any cheaper or easier to find in very good to mint condition.

I have always admired the Krag-Jorgansen 1898 US army rifle and carbine. The original shot 30-40 I think it was, and was not built to take a strong powder load like a .30-06. But they are considered the outright best made military rifles the US army ever had and perhaps the best made in the world even though they were in general service for only a year or two, long enough to take San Juan Hill in the hands of the Roughriders.

If someone ever did make a modern repro of this rifle in .30-06 or perhaps 7mm mauser, you betcha I'd buy one. Frankly I don't understand why nobody has done so, like the Colt peacemaker, this rifle has worldwide fame among those who know some gun history.

And for some time I've lusted after owning a Dragunov sniper rifle. 10 round box magazines, semi-auto, with scope. It would be the only gun I would want to own that had a scope or some kind of laser sight on it. For any other I figure if you can't shoot the thing over iron sights, you're just not a very good shot.

Winchester 73s are still made in 44 magnum, but the most common Winchester remakes are in 30-30. The Outlaw is nice, but I like the history of the Colt SAA. Nagants are good rifles, but I prefer the SKS. P-38s are still made, but only in .22 LR and .22 Win Magnum. Lugers are nice, but man a good one costs a small fortune.

Browning High Powered 9mm pistols are really nice, my dad has one and it is very accurate. It looks kind of like this.

I also like the look and feel of a Browing 1910/22. It has a nice grip and easy trigger pull. The 32 ACP ammo is hard to come by, but I really like this and i want one for myself. Here is a visual.

A revolver and lever action rifle chambered for the same round. Either 44 mag. or the .50 cal that is used by the alaskan arms rifle. This would be an everyday set.

for "war" I would add a 1911 with crimson trace laser sights. an autoloading shotgun like the one you posted with buckshot loads.
and a heavy caliber rifle like the Barret with a scope for long range and anti vehicle work.

The everyday set would serve well enough to get me home from wherever or what ever while being "old fashioned" enough to be non-threatening to police, and not targeted by "assault weapon" laws. The lever action can have a magazine capacity near to the ar-15. The high caliber/ magnum status would make even a man in body armor feel kicked by a horse if hit by the revolver.

The war set has the same capabilities you look for in an assault rifle, pistol, sniper rifle.
A magnum/3" shell shotgun with buckshot would be the aimed equivalent of a .32 cal SMG and have some reach into the bargain.
the pistol would increase the shots per reload and allow for easier rapid fire when needed. while iron sights on the lever action are good out to 500-800 yards, a scope on a .50 cal would allow for easier (and more rapid) targeting at long range. short range fire would allow for some anti vehicle capability.

there are more exotic items out there. from the m203 flechette round , or the paintball gun/ pepperball combo. Pepper balls can be loaded with other stuff.....

Pistol- Desert Eagle, since it can carry .50 AE, .44 Magnum, and .357 Magnum ammo (I wonder if it can be adapted to fire the ubiquitous 9mm round). I mean, the .50 AE will pretty much kill you or blow your limb off, or (Possibly) make your head explode if it hits ya dead on.

Carbine- M4A1. Improved performance and portiblity compaired to the M-16. Plus the M203 is always handy

SMG- MP-5. Small, very portable, lethal.

Rifle- M82-A2. What can be better than making someones head explode from a mile away?

Machine Gun- M2 .50 caliber MG. Deafening, roaring, lethal, and powerful enough to knock down those trees. (No joke)

Shotgun: M1014 Combat Shotgun. Period. (Perhaps witha barrel that can be snapped off to make it sawed off and then reattached if needed? )

REALLY BIG #%@^ GUN- 16 or 18 inch guns on the battleships.

Aren't those three different weapons and not one weapon that can fire 3 calibers?

Yes, but the Desert Eagle can fire all three of those munitions.

Indeed. If you buy the correct parts, you can modify a Desert Eagle to fire any of those rounds in about 15 minutes.
