With my return, I bring a new 'mech!

Type/Model: Fichakes FKS-2R
Tech: Inner Sphere / 2693
Config: Biped BattleMech
Rules: Level 2, Custom design

Mass: 70 tons
Chassis: StarCorp 100 Standard
Power Plant: 280 Ford Fusion
Walking Speed: 43.2 km/h
Maximum Speed: 64.8 km/h
Jump Jets: 3 Northrup 750 Standard Jump Jets
Jump Capacity: 90 meters
Armor Type: Durallex Heavy Special with CASE Ferro-Fibrous
Armament:
  1 Blankenburg LB 10-X AC
  4 Martell Medium Lasers
  1 Blankenburg 200 ER PPC
Manufacturer: StarCorps Industries
  Location: No longer Produced
Communications System: Army Comm. Class 5
Targeting & Tracking System: Army Corporation Type 29K

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
==Overview:==
The Fichakes was StarCorp Industries' second entry into the field of
battlemechs. Seeking a successor to the incredible Warhammer, they turned to
new technology to give their design an edge.

==Capabilities:==
The Fichakes had to be very mobile, to help it compete with newer 'mechs such
as the Flashman and Champion. As a result, a set of Northrup 750 Jump Jets
were installed into the legs and back, although the frame had to be slightly
reinforced to withstand the stresses of jumping and landing.

The new Ferro-Fibrous armor gives the Fichakes excellent protection, as the
10.5 tons of CASE-equipped Durallex Heavy Special can absorb more damage per
ton than any other armor available at the time.

More important that almost anything else, the weapons sytems were given
extreme care in their selection and placement process. A full suite of four
Martell lasers gives the 'mech a devastating short-range punch, allowing the
Fichakes to almost peel apart lighter machines. The new generation of
Blankenburg autocannon can take full advantage of the breaches opened into the
target's armor by the lasers, as it is capable of firing a special cluster
munition that seems uncannily able to find chinks and holes in the enemy's
armor and shred internal systems. All this firepower is made even more
devastating by the inclusion of the newest model of PPC, able to fire much
further than any PPC before it, while still packing the same killer punch.

Neat mech. Almost a Warhammer there. Though at 4/6/3 I wouldn't classify it as very mobile.

I said "mobile" not "fast". There are many, many 'mechs that this thing can outmaneuver. The Marauder, Battlemaster, Zeus, and Thunderbolt come readily to mind. Other 'mechs are faster, but relatively few have jump capacity.

The MAD-5D and several versions of Thunderbolt have a jump of four. And I think that there's a 5/8 Thunderbolt in 3067.

I feel that the sub-optimal jumping is a total waste on this machine. And since it has barely more armor than a medium 'Mech, the tonnage should go to increasing its armor to an acceptable level.

I also question the distribution. I'd suggest putting the ammo and CASE on the same side as the AC. As is, an ammo explosion will take off your PPC arm, leaving you with three medium lasers and a useless autocannon.

The armrament and concept are sound, but the details make it a sub-par machine.

Edit:
Welcome back, by the way.

And how do we pronounce that? Hard 'ch,' or soft?

It's pronounced like "fish-aches". I was listening to the old Fish Eggs song on my Doctor Demento CD when I came up with the name ("Fish Eggs" lead to "Fish Aches" which lead to "Fishakes" which lead to "Fichakes").

I'll see about reorganizing the weapon loadout.

Fish Eggs? I know the song Fish Heads.

Fish heads, fish heads.
Rolly, polly fish heads.
Fish heads, fish heads.
Eat them up, yum.
I took a fish head out to see a movie,
Didn't have to pay to get it in.
etc...

Wow. I really need a new CD player, then.

By sacking one of the Medium Lasers and its' corresponding Heat Sink, I was able to max out the jump capacity and kick up the armor load.

I also designed a level 1 version that cans the Jump Jets for a few more tons of armor and some heat sinks.

==Overview:==
The Fichakes was StarCorp Industries' second entry into the field of
battlemechs. Seeking a successor to the incredible Warhammer, they turned to
new technology to give their design an edge.

Unfortunately, the ravages of the succession wars have neccessitated the
eventual removal and replacement of the advanced parts that made the design so
effective.

==Capabilities:==
After the second
succession war, compatable jump jets became increasingly difficult to find,
and most remaining 'mechs have had their jump systems removed to free up space
for other systems.

The current generation of Durallex Heavy armor pales in comparison to the
previous versions in protective capability, and lacks the integral ammunition
storage system that protected the League-era pilots. This deficiency has been
partially remedied with the installation of several more tons of armor,
bringing the total up to 12 tons.

The weapons have also suffered greatly from the decline of technology. The
advanced heat exchangers that allowed the machine to run cool have been lost,
replaced with a far less efficient system. Also gone are the long-ranged PPC
and next-generation autocannon that gave the machine its range and
flexability.

Gotta love the L1 variant. You can fire off the PPC and AC10 without heat problems. Armor is a tad light but it will do fair enough.

The role the 'mech plays changes significantly, however. While the original level 2 version probably functions exceptionally well as a shock trooper (landing before a major assault or invasion to cause maximum mayhem and destruction), the level 1 version is limited to the usual line slugger.
