								| Ever wonder what would happen if you stuffed an entire RCT in one poor dropship? I did. This is the end result.

 AeroTech 2 Vessel Technical Readout
 VALIDATED

 Class/Model/Name:  RCT Carrier
 Tech:              Inner Sphere / 3067

 Rules:             Level 2, Standard design
 Rules Set:         AeroTech2

 Mass:              100,000 tons
 Hull:              Lockheed BR65
 Length:            239 meters
 Power Plant:       Lockheed Standard
 Safe Thrust:       3
 Maximum Thrust:    5
 Armor Type: Kallon AeroWeave Ferro-Aluminum Ferro-aluminum
 Armament:
 102 Norse-Storm Model 7D Gauss Rifle
 102 Norse-Storm Model 7D PPC

 Location:     Talon (Kallon), Quentin (Independence)
 Communications System:  Lockheed/CBM Comset 100
 Targeting & Tracking System:  Lockheed/CBM TarSet 55
 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------
 ==Overview:==
 The RCT carrier is the largest design ever designed that can enter an
 atmosphere. It is a massive dropship, the largest millitary dropship ever
 designed. While its still just on some 2,500 blueprint papers, its clear that
 it would be a rather costly design. Its also the proverbal putting all your
 eggs in one basket.

 ==Capabilities:==
 The RCT carrier can carry, as its name implies, a FULL RCT and its spare parts
 (Aerospace compliment nonwithstanding), meaning it can hold 106 Mechs, 318
 Vehicles, and 530 Infantry Platoons in its massive hull. (1 Regiment, 3
 Regiments, and 5 Regiments respectivly). It carriers an outstanding amout of
 armor, more than on any Corvette and most Destroyers. It also carriers 102
 PPCs and 102 Gauss Rifles to discourage assault. These 2 combined means it can
 not only carry a whole entire RCT onto a planet, but can take on small
 warships and fly out intact. It also maintains a respectable speed for its
 size and considerations. Inside its massive hull, there is 300 days (120 days
 of maximum) thrust burn days, giving it fair duribility. Also, it has enough
 food to feed its RCT and crew, plus marine compliment for 75 days.

 It does, however, require some other transports to carry a units aerospace
 compliment and extra foodstuff, but it carriers its own spare parts.

 ==Deployment==
 To date, none of these 5260 Million C-Bill monsters has been deployed. Its
 blueprints remain on New Avalon, where it is hoped that they may be put to
 some use.

								| I'd have to call it impractical.
 An RCT would need to deploy some forces before the main body of troops arrives, and this behemoth dropship makes it almost impossible. You want your scouts on the ground well before anyone else, and then some troops securing the landing zone. Several smaller dropships is the right way to go.

								| While you send in your RCT, the enemy will conecentrate everything he's got against your single lightly armored DropShip. It's an interesting idea, but it's mostly just a good way to lose an RCT.
 BTW, a 'Mech regiment is 108 'Mechs, and three vehicle regiments is 324.

 Actually, common consensus is that a regiment is 120 to 124 squads. 36+4 per Battalion plus a possible 4 for regimental command.

 Also, each platoon is counted as 1 lance because it is made of 4 squads [3 for jump infantry.] This point always struck me as odd but alas to my knowledge it is correct.

 so an RTC is atleast 120 mechs, 360 vehicles, and 150 infantry platoons [600 squads] or 600 BA squads.

								| I was just giving minimal numbers. If you're going to add command elements, then that's 108+12 (battalion command lances)+12 (regimental command company) for 132 'Mechs. Then we get into reinforced battalions/regiments, with four companies/four battalions each. Armor is organized just the same. So a standard 'Mech/armored regiment is 120 to 132, while reinforced is larger.
 Dunno why, but I didn't bother counting infantry.

								| Maybe because they use a "non-standard" counting system? Platoons as opposed to a single battlemech or vehicle. Plus you have differing sizes of platoons: 28 men for a foot platoon, and 21 for jump/motorized. I'm always getting confused as to how many troops are in an infantry unit...
