I ran up the 4 basic and most ubiquitous utility mechs there is. They all weigh 30 tons, cost very little, and have the same basic chassis for the most part. (Structure, Engine ect.)

BattleMech Technical Readout

Type/Model: Forestry Mech
Tech: Inner Sphere / 3025
Config: Biped BattleMech
Rules: Level 3, Custom design

Mass: 30 tons
Chassis: Utility 'Mech
Power Plant: 90 I.C.E.
Walking Speed: 32.4 km/h
Maximum Speed: 54.0 km/h
Jump Jets: None
Jump Capacity: 0 meters
Armor Type: Standard
Armament:
1 Chainsaw
1 Lift Hoist
1 Cargo Bay
Manufacturer: Various
Location: Various
Communications System: Various
Targeting & Tracking System: Various

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
==Overview:==
This is your stereotypical Forestry Mech. It has an ICE engine and a Utility
Mech frame, and has only enough heatsinks to cool the mech's movement and
manipulation. These mechs are commonplace everywhere.

Forestry Mechs usually are piloted humanly, and have a vehicle-like control
system.

==Capabilities:==
Forestry Mechs mount a massive chainsaw to chop down trees, and a lift hoist
to carry the load to either a nearby truck, or in some cases, a small
carry-bay in the same arm as the hoist.

==Battle History:==
Occasionally, when defenders are in dire straits, they jury-rig utility mechs
to do combat. They usually do as well as a light tank, due to the fact that
their weaponry is dubiously wired, and usually hastily done.

==Variants:==
Some Forestry Mechs have hand actuators.

==Capabilities:==
The Construction Mech has 2 massive hydraulically driven construction claws
used to clamp girders and lift heavy gear into place. A heavy duty gyro helps
the mech out.

Miner Mechs are usually piloted humanly, with a vehicle like control system.
However, in dangerous locations they are piloted remotely.

==Capabilities:==
The Miner Mech, as its name implies, is very good at breaking rocks and mining
operations. It has very little combat potential and is not designed for
combat.

Occasionally, when defenders are in dire straits, they jury-rig utility mechs
to do combat. They usually do as well as a light tank, due to the fact that

So what is the big difference between these and the MWDA utility mechs?

We already had them done up and armed via that game if we wanted them.

I know I know...but I wondered what they would look like un-jury rigged in CBT rules, and if they were practical to build, costwise. I only put 'em here in case anyone wanted to see em...

To me they were like NPCs there if needed, not something that carried the story line. But that's me.

Cost wise they should be relatively cheap and simple...IC engines aren't that complex to maintain for a reasonlly advanced planet.
