MRM damage is grouped like LRM's (LRM missiles follow first one in groups of five), but MRMs are unguided. It looks strange to me, that unguided missiles fly in groups. I think, that MRM missiles should hit like SRMs do, shouldn't they?

Look at it this way. Say you hit someone with an MRM 40, and all of them hit. How long would it take you to get bored if you had to roll for forty seperate locations?

Sure, but this question is just technical, not saying that I would ever consider rolling some forty missile hits (well, maybe for possible crits from forty missiles?)

One way to explain it as that there are so many missiles, they tend to hit similar locations... hence the use of grouping...

Well, this explanation could also be applied to LB-X guns.

Considering a house rule: -2 to missiles hit table rolls, MRM attacks resolved as SRM, +1 to hit remains.
With MRMs you fire cloud of unguided missiles (They are slower than LB-X shells (=> inaccuracy, less hits), but each hits different location. Seems logic to me.

There's a big difference between 40 missiles and 20 cluster shots.. though i could turn around and say that LB weapons probably fire even more sub munitions than you can count, so grouping them the way it is done is already a simplification..

Thing is, there are many things in Btech that don't really make sense.. so best not to try.. It tends to take away from its enjoyment..
