								| i vote double heatsinks. Reason being that u just almost thrown heat management out of the window and the mech can actually start to mount even more heat intensive weapons than ever before. | |

								| I too, must vote for double heatsinks. Simply switching a 'mechs engine-carried heat sinks from standard to doubles can make an incredible difference in the weapons that 'mech can deploy. The roles formerly played by missiles and autocannon can now be more effectively filled by energy weapons, for the simple fact that heat management is much less of an issue.

								| I just general play I'd have to go with DHS.
In a campaign, things like C3 and Omnitech can make a big different, but in single battles it's DHS.

								| Double heat sinks, followed very closely by light engines and endo-steel.
DHS make 'Mechs very cool running, allowing them to mount strong energy loadouts. And they're a vast tonnage saver, right up there with the XL engine.

A light engine gives you more free tonnage with minimal tradeoffs, and the same is true of endo-steel. I've become more weary of XLs than I was before, as over time I've lost more 'Mechs to side torso hits that something else would have survived. IS FF armor is terribly inefficient. I only mount it on light 'Mechs or for fluff reasons.

Omni tech could be extremely useful, but not in the 31st century. It doesn't help much to have an Omni here and there. Only in large units of OmniMechs do you get the full benefits of the technology. And that would take decades for the Inner Sphere to pull off.

								| Of the options you have listed I voted for double heatsinks. For reasons stated by the rest. However I don't think this was THE greatest invention ever for the I.S. Can you guess what really was? The Kearny-Fuchida drive was and is THE greatest invention EVER for the I.S. It allowed the human race to colonize all the systems that make up our know realm of space.

NO, that was the gretest invention of the Hemogany [if it was there age.] The greatest invention for the IS was the Battlemech, [SLDF i consider IS]

								| The title should have been "Greatest invention ever for the IS, as applied to advanced Battlemech construction techniques".
I too think that the K-F Drive would be mankind's crowning achievement, followed closely by the perfection of Fusion reactors and Myomer technology.

								| In more general terms.. water purification followed by advanced medical treatments.

								| Ah, but why would water purification be needed, if not for the interplanetary expansion made possible by the K-F Drive?

The IS is almost as twisted as the clanners, that's why a weaponry advance is more important.

								| Battlemech is good, but KF drive enabled humanity to get the resources needed to build the mechs (and empires, ... you know). _________________
