Well, the Summoner PRIME went really strong in our TRO, but has copped some bad Flak recently, while others have done better.

So, simple question, which original configuration do you prefer and why?

IMO, the Prime stands heads and shoulders above the rest. It has the best heat balance, the best mix of weapons that can cover all ranges and supply you with real versatility. Ok, so the AC is somewhat short on ammo, but really, a lot of Clan 'mechs don't support much more.

The A is pretty crappy, because it decides to be fluffy. Keeping the ballistic and missile weapon ammo tonnages equal to the Prime makes this one a loser in the literal sense. Even if that wasn't the case, I prefer the loadout of the Prime - the PPC is the better energy weapon, the LRM is the better missile weapon. Moot point over which ballistic weapon is better, I probably prefer the AC, so there.

The B with its missiles is not bad, but there are much more powerful missile 'mechs out there.

The C is too one-dimensional, too short-ranged overall. And compared to the other Summoners (and to those only) it is a real hottie. And if anyone likes this one anyways, well, thanks for making the case that the Prime carries sufficient ammo ever so much stronger!

The D is beautiful and deadly. But it can be mighty boring fielding this in a battle. It is one of the best snipers thought up. Huge range, good damage, no heat problems and high mobility. Wow. But, not as fun as the Prime.

I prefer the Summoner being stepped on by my Timber Wolf.

Of the 3050 configs, I think the Prime is best. The A is... odd. While the gauss may or may not be better than the LBX, the other weapons just don't cut it. The B is a missile 'Mech, and not bad for it. But at the same time, it doesn't exactly have a fascinating loadout. The C is nice, but is restricted to close range for the most part. It's less flexible than the Prime, which has long ranged weapons with no minimums. The D is cute and fancy, but lacks firepower. A good sniper, but not a battler.

Well the C sees lots of use in my clan on clan forces. Sure its short ranged, but the jump jets let you manuver in close.

Its ammo bins are light but only once in a blue moon do I double tap. And I've missed one double tap of the last 7 I've fired. I have good die rolls, so my opponent dies quite nicely.

Still your right if I want to be cheap I field the D or Prime. This C variant is good enough for the warrior in me though.
