Warhawk, A variant. All-range power, and better heat profile than the Prime.

Ah, assault 'mechs, too? Well my favourite is the Executioner.
But let me congratulate you on your choice of Warhawk A - it is so much more colourful than the all-powerful C variant which everyone loves!
Really, the Clan omnis of 3050 got me hooked on speed. In my 3rd ever BT game I used an Executioner A next to a friend in a Dire Wolf A. I liked my ride more because it was just so much more flexible.
Really, the Executioner has great speed, great heat-dissipation and decent armour (maximum apart from the side torsos). While being light on pod space, it generally uses that quite well (despite always including extra and in the Prime redundant heat sinks). I prefer the Prime (for long-range combat), B (best head-hunter with two great killer weapons and the best back-up stuff out of all configs) and C (well, very ammo-dependent but those two huge weapons are both enhanced in accuracy).
I also really like the Gargoyle - obviously the A variant, though the C variant is also sweet. I won't go into Prime and B, I just won't....
The Warhawk is a mixed bag. The Prime is too expensive, the B too foolish and the C too boring. The A is fun, but lacks the one-volley killing power that you'd expect from it.
The Dire Wolf. Well, great fun actually! But everyone thinks of you as a munchkin if you do use one. I will never, ever use the A. That one is just munchkinism incarnate. However, the two other configs - the B is actually pretty cheap, has two head-chopper weapons and plenty of back-up in all range brackets. It is fun because it takes a lot of heat management. Its downfall is that most killing power is concentrated in the left arm, an almost unacceptable weakness. And, if I absolutely, positively have to kill every last mother****er on the board, I will field the PRIME. At least the heat of that one will give me something to manage. But, oh, that power and oh, that range!
Generally, though, I will field one of the two humanoid ones, they are much more easy to integrate into a larger force.

I most enjoy the Dire Wolf.
Why? Simply because of its munchiness! its the ultimate mech in my opinion, and its so loathed because its so damn good at its job. But their has to be a top dog mech so why loathe it if it is?
I tend not to use her for the same reasons given. even if you pull off an astonishing victory, people always use the daishi as an excuse. I tend to field her against my friends when playing RPG's as the ultimate enemy. Its great fun watching their faces as it strolls on against his Whitworth and Grasshopper, or whatever else he can muster.
Although, i never use it to annihilate him, just to skirmish a little

Why settle for the lesser evil? I'll take the Warhawk H, with those 2 Heavy Large Lasers and 2 Large Pulse Lasers tied into a TC.
Think Evil when you field an assault mech! You're against everything that's in your way!
The really best clanner assault is any one with a dead pilot.

the dire wolf is the! assault mech its configs can be seen as munch but that just proves how effective the design is plus it looks s$^&hot

| The Warhawk, with its targeting computer, sometimes insance configs (see the Prime, talk about overkill.) Moves 4/6 to boot. The Dire Wolf is just to munchy, or powerful, or whatever you want to call it, for me. You just point and shoot.

I chose the Man'O War (Gargoyle). I like it's speed. Not too sure on the looks but all the assault class omnis look odd to me. I like a couple variants but the rest just plain stink.

The Stormcrow does the same job as that configuration, but is faster and lighter.

I don't necessarily think the Dire Wolf is munchy. Like Wanallo says - something has to be the most powerful.
Despite that, I've always preferred the Warhawk. (Even though I do wish it carried endo-steel.) The B configuration is criminally wasteful, but the rest are fine to great. It's also the best looking of the bunch, which makes a difference.

i choose a Warhawk C. I want to eat people if i use clan assaults. And i dont use assaults often.
