Well, this is an unexpected design. Very much a city-fighter, highly mobile with lots of anti-infantry and anti-armour weapons. It is also very flexible, due to the JJ and PL.

However it is surprising how the other variants actually field much more raw killing power. And the JJ, despite the honourable mention above, just don't seem to be a very Timberwolf-ish attribute.

I have no questions/compaints about jymset's review. But I do have a general question.

Are jump jets really not Timber Wolf-ish? Or rather, do you guys see jump jets as being not Timber Wolf-ish?

Just feels a little wierd to see jumping Timber Wolf's... they are better packing more weaponry.. kinda like a fast moving (ground-wise) arsenal...

Leave the jumping to Summoners..

I'll agree with Eneron on this one. The Timber Wolf always struck me as the heavy mech with all the guns, but was ground bound.

Its common opponent was the Summoner which had less weapons but jump capable. The ability to add Jets to a OMNI mech always struck me as work and a fundamental error in cannon ways.

Precisely. Some 'mechs are decidedly unbalanced (in regards to being a stable flyer). The Timber Wolf seems to me as quite top-heavy, and I doubt it would be able to land reliably.

i always thoughts the timber is slightly heavvy on the top with all those missile racks and really huge torso.

the pliot would really have his hands full unless its a pilot like Pryde who has a Mad Cat Pryde and can handle a jumping Timber.

It's probably a rare variant? (Checking) Ah, anti-BattleArmor operations. The jumpjets needed to get beyond swarming range are REALLY good to have on this one.

I kinda agree that Jump Jets ought to be built into the chassis of a Mech.. even an Omni.. but we don't set the rules...

Way i see it, Jump Jets add God awful amounts of stress on the Mech when it's landing.

Only the Jade Falcon pod setup adds Jump Jets.

To me it's not a question about if it's the mech or not kind of thing. It's more of a question of are they needed yes or no.

The Timberwolf is an Omnimech and that means just about anything can end up on it at one point or another, so having Jump jets means that it was needed for the mission at hand, like say a fight in city or a rocky foot hills area etc...

So I can't really vote since I am more of looking at the mission and then picking weapons for Omnis and I wouldn't turn down jump jets since they would be more of help then a hinderence.
