By request, I'm creating a new thread to keep the rosters up to date. A few pointers:
Please post your 'mech selections in the OTHER thread. Don't post them here. In fact, please don't post anything here other than suggestions on the shaping of the unit structure.
It has been suggested to split the IS forces into two companies, one fast and jump-capable, the other one filled with groundpounders.
Currently, the idea behind shaping the Clan unit, due to Clans not really caring about 'mech tonnage in their base units (not talking about bidding here), is that basically I will try to fulfill every request for star compositions.
So, help me out here. Any and all suggestions about the following three rosters is most welcome!

For the 3005 and 3062, i would like to start somewhere near the front.
Basically i get bigger mechs like Atlases as shields and casually put an A/C20 shell into their cockpits.
For the clan i think i would hang back alittle and soften them up with the ERLs and my LRM15 before shredding them to bits with my LB-20X and Streak 4s.

As it stands we have 2 A and 3 D configuartion Timber Wolves, which means that we can have the munchy star from hell as our anchor. Supposing you list Talen with his heavy mech choice.
That Star is technically a heavy one, but I can think of companies that couldn't beat it.

Overall, good.
In 3005 I suggest putting at least a pair of jump capable mechs in Able company for scouting ahead. I see the Battalion working on a Hammer and Anvil tactic. Baker uses it's superior manueverability to get around behind the bad guys (or in general set up an ambush) while Able pushes them into position. Then we pummel them.
In 3062, if you want to keep the Jump Jets in Baker, move my Whitworth II over to the second company.
We could always found our own clan. It's a little unorthadox, but I don't think it's without precedent. Could I suggest, nonetheless, that we try to balance out the stars, since normally the stars will act independently. E.G, 5 Timberwolves surely means there is a star out there getting the shaft. And a star with 5 Mad Dogs will be woefully overranged.
A suggestion on general organization:
Move Chihawk, Mordel, and two others to an overall command lance, separate out the scouts, and then put the Command lance over all three groups.
1.) Command Lance
2.) Able, Baker company, Cavalry Detachment
3.) Command, Fire Support, Assault
Mordel, Chihawk, and our Scout Leader can each wear a second hat. We'll even out the strength of the two companies, and we can deploy the scouts where they will be needed.

Just two question. When are we going to get all of us in one place to play? and Who are we going to invade?

Maybe a sound off in another thread on our locations would help solve the problem.

I think this is the most viable suggestion so far. The only way I could thinkto make it better wuld be to have some scouts in each company, or at least balance the scouts out. No matter what kind of company it is , it will need some kind of scouting capabiltity.

Or.... we could do one of these:
PBeM
a single day that everyone takes off from work (I'd trade hours if possible..) and we spend the entire day kicking tail on MegaMek.
