(As I posted on HMPro)
Just a couple weeks ago I had made up my mind that I was done with Battletech. After playing this game since the day after Battledroids was released I was completely burnt out on it. It was so bad that the last few times I played Mordel I was just moving pieces and rolling dice not really caring what was going on. It's also shown in the PBeM game I'm running where we've taken more weeks off in this game vs all the previous games combined, and my Battletech related posts on forums had fallen to about zero.
My plan was to go to TotalCon last weekend, play and run the games I was scheduled to, and them come back Monday and call it quits.
But at TotalCon I played in 3 really fun related scenarios that weren't well balanced, but the background story was so good that it didn't matter. It changed the way I look at this game, so much so that by the third scenario I was totally back into it, leading my undermanned, undergunned force to a routing victory over Kuritan invaders.
So because of those scenarios I'm now into this game again...so watch boys, the Fat Guy™ is back.

I've had that happen to me too. I ended up taking almost a year off, then getting back into it after playing MW4, which made me decide to play in a regular BT game. That game was so fun, and well GM'ed I came back.

Master Bartender, were we so close to loosing you?
Dear goodness! WHEW! Close one! What else can I say?
I am really glad that you found the passion again, so quickly! And please, let that flow into your PBeMs, too! You know how much I'm rearing to go!!!
You could always try something new there, too. Like a Clan game using the old Solaris VII dueling rules...... (can't let that one go!)
jymset, glad to still have you keeping peace in our favourite bar!

As little as I get to play this game any more, it is a wonder as to why I still love it so much. I look forward to TotalCon each year for pretty much the whole year. I think the whole "battletech universe" is what has kept me so hooked for so many years. The great novels and stories, the PBeM games, the Mechwarrior computer games, and the kewl people I've met and gamed with over the years. It is the only Sci-Fi based game that I've ever gotten into, and because it is so fluid and can be played in so many different ways, it has always stayed fresh.
And there's nothing like pushing someone off a level 3 hill, when you havn't been able to roll a 6 or higher all day in the weapons fire phase!

I don't know what I would do without Chihawk in here to knock everyone's heads about.
I've had similar experiences with Star Wars: RPG. I guess I don't get to play BTech enough (at least not with qualified players) to really get burned out.
I mean, my brothers are fun, but I long since learned all their moves, and the computer just isn't up to par. _________________ "Politics is the Art of looking for trouble, finding it everywhere, misdiagnosing the problem, and applying the wrong solution."

Glad to hear that you are getting back up to speed since there is a bit of a challenge that might be coming up with young StarRaven (Assuming he still has that death wish)
