Here's my attempt at a dreadnaught-class vessel. At least, I think it's a dreadnaught. Would anyone mind enumerating the weight distinctions (frigate/destroyer/cruiser/etc) for me? As always, criticism is welcome.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
==Overview:==
Sometime in the mid-3050s, Davion Fleet Command put out a call for a
front-line ship, one capable of dealing out massive damage, and withstanding
the same. In 3058, Federated-Boeing submitted the designs for the
Orthrus-class dreadnaught.

Almost fortunately, a number of mishaps delayed the construction of the
prototype for several years. During this time, the Mosquito-class fast-attack
vessel was developed, and the Orthrus' design changed to incorporate them into
its' payload.

==Capabilities:==
The Orthrus mounts a quite impressive array of weaponry, centered around a
series of naval-scale Lasers and PPCs. This array is backed by numerous
naval-scale Autocannon and Gauss Rifles.

For anti-fighter and -dropship defense, a massive number of Rotary and Laser
Cannon cover every firing arc.

To capitalize on its role as a fleet support ship, the Orthrus carries 140
fighters in its fighter bay. It also transports 8 Mosquito fast-attack ships,
attached at special docking cradles.

==Deployment==
At present, only two Orthrus-class ships are operational. The original
prototype, the Orthrus, which is deployed along the Davion-Liao border, and
the newly-completed Revenant, which is undergoing its shake-down trials near
the Robinson system.

I posted those somewhere for StarRaven, not on my main comp and don't really have time to look up the post atm, but if you click my user id and then look at posts by me you could probably find it easy enough.

As far as I can tell, BattleTech doesn't use the dreadnought designation. Even the Leviathan 2 is merely a battleship.

BattleTech also has no specifically enumerated tonnages for each class. And some make no sense at all. For example, the Congress class frigate is heavier than the Aegis class heavy cruiser. And at least four heavy cruisers are heavier than the Black Lion class battlecruiser, although not by much.

Still, you can look through the files included with HMAero to get some idea.

Not bad at all...though dreadnaught isn't really a class of ship, it was a newier type of vessel.

But still this one is decent and not to shabby. I like it and will add it to my files once I get the chance or if someone posts the HMA file somewhere.

As said BT doesn't follow any set pattern for ship types via weights and thus it's more or less left up to you the user to go with seems right. I think we covered this in the warship topic on the General Disscussion board...

Maybe I should post some of my Renegade Legion ships that I converted to BT...
