Designed as a high speed harrasment/interceptor the Butterfly proves that beauty can kill. using its lilth and agile form to cover all but the ruffest terrain, in an effort to harras enemy lines.

equiped with both offensive and defensive armaments of the latest design and technologies. the primary weapons are the twin pulse lasers in the left arm, forcing some to close closer then they'd like, but offering accuracy at the high speeds the unit must travel.

also mounted is the ipitomy of missile weaponry. a single streak srm 6 is located in the right arm. with its locking ability, there is little chance that it will ever miss when fired. allowing the pilot to keep moving at his highest while ingaged in battle.

for anti-infantry action a pair of machine guns are mounted bellow the srm launcher. these twin guns can clear the field of even the most experienced infantry unit.

max armor is placed on this chassie, allowing the Butterfly to take a couple hits, before the pilot retreats for repairs. assisting this armor is an ECM, built into the very heart of the mechs core. keeping it safe from units equiped with Art IV, Streaks, and Targeting Computers.

to further assist, the pilot has at there dispossale a Right Torso mounted Anti-Missile System. with 2 tons of ammo, the Butterfly curcumvents the AMS's inharent weekness, ammo usage. Its believed that even 30 seconds of missile suppression will keep the unit active, thou some pilots have been known to hold there ams in researved. using it when there armor is vunerable to srm fire.

overall all these features turn out to be a nice combination, and it will be interesting indead to see if the unit will perform or flop.

The only draw back I see is that most of the mech's weapons are in the it's arms...that may give it tons of flexibility but it's kind of like putting all your eggs in one basket so to speak.

Right I understand that but the unexpect can happen and then the mech has lost well over half of it's firepower...

An AC20 or Gauss Rifle will ruin this mech's day.

And there are a lot of medium mechs with either

well a ac/20 generally makes a bad day for any mech unlucky to find itself at the talkative end.

Only short range weapons. Needs something with a range over 9. 11 hexes is not enough to keep this alive....

with 7/11 movement, i personelly feel that a ranged weapon is not all that important.

anyway, you fit an long ranged weapon of any power on this design while keeping the assortment of missiles, and defenses. oh lets not forget speed.

I have to agree with Sir Henry on the need for a long range weapon. With such limited armor I would not want to pilot this mech close to anything mean.

Let's see the Spider is faster then your mech and has jump jets...so I might get close in that one.

The Jenner is just as fast as yours, but it has jump jets as well, giving it only has five of them, that could be enough to get it out of some trouble or get it behind another mech faster and safer...

With a Jenner I would not go against anything like a Warhammer or Thunderbolt, but I would harass crappy units like Quickdraws and Shadowhawks. I would have to be dispossessed before you could get me to pilot the abomination known as the Spider.
