This what I consider to be my best design ever. Probably because it's so powerful, while remaining so cheap.

I''ll give you something more detailed in a bit - I've got a class in three minutes. But, if you're doing level 3 anyways, why not use LAMS?

Several things:

1) Heat. The Laser AMS generates 12 points of heat when fired (according to HM-Aero, what other effects happen upon firing, I don't know).

2) Cost. A single LAMS system costs about 230,000 C-Bills. A standard AMS costs 100,000 +ammo.

3) Effective Tonnage. According to HM-Aero, a LAMS has an effective tonnage of 13.5 tons (1.5+12+0) and a standard AMS has a tonnage of 2.5 (.5+1+1).

4) Real-Life Considerations. In real life, a ballistic system would be much easier to maintain than a complex laser weapon. The only truly complex parts of the AMS are the automation and fire-control circuitry. The entirety of the LAMS is a series of circuits, galvanizing coils, focusing crystals, etc.

Actually, it is more likely they are ignoring your designs for abit. I find that this group withdraws from commenting when barraged by more then a few new design posts everyday.

You have basicly flooded the forum and will get few responces as people take a break from reading your posts.

Hmm. That actually explains a lot. Maybe I'll take a few days break between posting designs.

But that don't mean I'll take breaks between making them!

Thanks, Mister Vagabond!

Standard IS AMS destroys 1d6 missiles and uses 2d6 shots of ammunition.

LAMS destroy 2d6 missiles and do equal heat. For vehicles and most non-mech units the ability to disipate all the heat is needed. This is why the max heat of 12 is listed in all HM Programs.

Another thing that would help is if you would use
Code:
 <pre></pre>

brackets that would make the format cleaner and easier to read for old folk like me with tired eyes

I like it. Fast, powerful, well armored for its size (I'm an armor fanatic), and pretty cheap too. The only disadvantage is that you'd need to leave it in one system, or have some JumpShip cart it around.

Even several of these won't do too well against heavier WarShips, but they'll rule against DropShips for sure.

And Motown's suggesting that you use < pre >, not < code > (without spaces, of course). Code brings me pain, and it makes things very hard to read. Of course, you already seem to have edited it...

That's the idea. They're transported along with the invasion fleet, and clear the way for friendly dropships.

This would make a decent System dfence vessel you have good armour and the armament is decent I might want to spread your front weapons out a bit move two of the NL55s from the nose to the frront corner arcs. That would give you 2 in each arc and a better spread at your speed you are likely to be blowing past an enemy at high speed
