For a primary variant, this thing is kind of uninspired.
The weapons all share similar range profiles, which is good. This mech will have every weapon available at any range.
But its that same weapons load that has me wondering what all the hubub is about. LRMs, LBX, PPC. Its been done before on how many mechs. LRM, AC, PPC.... Heck, I made those weapons loads when I was playing 3025 stuff.
But enough about that.
THe maneuverability of this mech is pretty impessive for 70 tons. The jump capacity will get this mech into, out of, or over problems that arise in combat, and the heat sinks will keep this thing fairly cool, and could actually stand to loose a couple for other doodads.
The armor is fairly beefy, but not overly so. This mech can take a hit from a big weapon without having to leave immediately. The armor on the arms is a might thin, so dont be shocked if someone carves of an arm in one shot.
A pretty fair workhorse, good for filling out heavy and assault lances, but not my first choice for guerilla actions. Having two thirds of your weapons dependant on ammo limits your operational range.

Am I going on a personal vendetta against DarkAdder? I think so!!!!
5 users have given this, THE BEST 'MECH EVER, in any era, using any and all configs, an even 5.0.... And along comes the person I've unfortunately picked on aleady this week, and gives it a 2!
To put it into perspective, let's quote his ratings on the other Thor variants, which, while all achieving their own high merits, never reach the beautiful versatility and effectivity of the PRIME: A-2.5, B-3.0, C-3.5, D-4.0. Actually, I could agree with that! But only, ONLY if the PRIME had that 5.0 that it deserved! Bad, major foul!
Now, much as I hate to admit it: DarkAdder reviews can be really good most of the time. So, I apologise, no hard feelings, please.
It is just really bad timing: I commented on one review with nothing much to say, which lead on to me commenting on the one review that actually did trouble me. Now I was gonna go to bed (2:30 am in Germany), just checking as a last treat to myself the love everyone unloads on the best design ever (TM) only to find.....THIS!
jymset, the emotional and tired

If you recall, ralgith, we played once with my Tapper. He killed a Thor A or C. _________________ If ignorance is bliss, then why are you so miserable?

Neither of which was a PRIME!!!
Heck, I'm not all to serious above. I think. But I love the Thor PRIME above any and all designs, I was serious about that, and don't really, well, don't at all agree with that review!
You gotta defend your own loved ones!

Actually it was a Summoner M, which is Prime with Streak SRM instead of LRMs

Ah, the POS. The "unique" one from Somerset Strikers.....
That one is soooo bad! I so much prefer the LRMs on the Thor! And on the PRIME, it makes perfect sense to have the AC with one ton of ammo, the missiles with two. That is retained for the M. WTF?!?! They should've changed the tonnage of the ballistic and missile ammo. Same on the Thor A. The Thor C, on the other hand, is excellent. Just not as good as the PRIME....

I'll whup you any day with an M over a Prime
Seriously. Though I agree that the M should have 2 tons of AC ammo...

Yes you are. And if you aren't.....
chihawk! We have a challenge! Feel like running a Clan one-on-one?
And no, MegaMek still isn't an option.

pffft, I even have a dedicated MegaMek server....
But I wouldn't do 1 on 1 cause then a lucky head shot throws it. Unless we did best of 5 with random maps
