Threaded mode shows you responses to individual posts in a thread sorted by date and time. Unthreaded shows you all posts in a thread sorted by date and time.
It is a small difference, but it allows you to respond to a single person's post in a thread and argue points based on that post instead of tacking your post onto the last comment made.

I'm only now catching onto the fact that I have to press the reply button on the specific post, not just down on the bottom, for the benefit of the threaded readers.
Mordel's board of the 90s had, what, inverse threaded mode as standard, so that was cool. Initially it took me ages to adjust to flat mode. Now I find it is impossible to adjust back! And I'm only 25....

I haven't yet caught on. Do you mean to say that the two modes have posts in a different order? And that it looks strange to others when I tack my reply onto the last post in the thread?

I'm 19, and I use flat mode because thats the mode 99.5% of Forums use. I dont like the usenet style threaded mode. _________________ too lazy to make a sig...

Well, unless I'm mistaken, when using threaded mode, your message will appear beneath the message where you pressed the reply button. I think. You are all doomed.
