True. But you'll notice that I removed the hand. No hand, no problem.

I like this design. It's a little heat innefficient, but back then not many were. The armor is more than adequate for it's size and era. The speed is merely adequate. The range and damage this Commando has puts it a bit ahead of other designs of similar tonnage. I think if you dropped a ton of armor for another heatsink it would make this a better design, but that's just me.
On a side note, this seems like a Panther that someone reduced the firepower by a little to increase speed a lot.

I always liked the Large Laser. Range, damage, heat: the Large Laser is the best of all worlds. _________________ Evil is like a bowl of oranges. Only one, instead, is an orange of DOOM. That orange has a fate to rule over the other oranges with an iron fist. That orange is me.

i think the LL is a fine weapon for a Commando and make sense for a Lyran scouter mech.
bear in mind that the COMs never had solid armor or speed either so dropping another ton of armor is a really bad idea.

Look at his design. He over-maxed the armor. He's got 6 tons on there but only 89 points. If he placecd 5.5 tons he would get 88 points. See? He can drop a ton easy. _________________ If ignorance is bliss, then why are you so miserable?

I run into this a lot with several of my designs. Is that extra half a ton really worth the 1-3 points you're able to use from it to gain max armor? Oft times it isnt.

What else could I use a half-ton for? One Jump Jet? _________________ Evil is like a bowl of oranges. Only one, instead, is an orange of DOOM. That orange has a fate to rule over the other oranges with an iron fist. That orange is me.

No! JJ only work when used in a group. Every JJ gives you 1 movement point in every turn that you decide to jump. So your movement would be 1! You wouldn't be able to jump up anything higher than lvl1, and you would face a to-hit penalty of 3 (for jumping), while not actually achieving a target-movement modifier for your enemies.
Really, for jump jets, the magic numbers are 5 and, if possible, 7 (you can mount as many JJ as you have walking movement).

It was a retorical question. I know how useless one Jump Jet is. _________________ Evil is like a bowl of oranges. Only one, instead, is an orange of DOOM. That orange has a fate to rule over the other oranges with an iron fist. That orange is me.

Sorry!
I just thought, because wasn't it you who had only done BT in theory? I wasn't sure how obvious this was to someone who wasn't an active gamer. I didn't want to make you look foolish. In fact, looks like I made myself look foolish!

Exactly Seraph, couldn't have said it better myself. I personally agree with your first suggestion, drop the full ton for another HS. Sure means you don't have max armor, but its a better desgin over all

I've only played CBT in theory (and Mega Mek). I HAVE However played more than my share of Mechwarrior games. A single Jump Jet is just a waste of tonnage and crit space. _________________ Evil is like a bowl of oranges. Only one, instead, is an orange of DOOM. What's the problem with the heat? As long as the pilot refrains from firing the Large Laser every few turns, the heat scale is golden. Like some of you have said before: Fire Discipline. _________________ Evil is like a bowl of oranges. Only one, instead, is an orange of DOOM. On 1/2/1 pillbox you may use it to make sharp turns (3 hex sides)
