That was my warwhoop the other day.
Why? you might ask.
Because I flew solo for the first time ever Friday afternoon, that's why.
It's a major milestone for every pilot, and I finally did it.
I had just spent three hours typing a whole dialogue describing the event, but my *trusty computer* had a brainfart on me and lost it when I tried to post. So I'm just sticking with the warwhoop this time!
Ronin, solo endorsed student pilot!

Congrats,Dude.
Are we talking complete solo. With no co-pilot. No instructor. Nothing to keep you honest?
What kind of plane? What kind of weather? How many mintues was the flight? How many private pools with half dress women did you buzz?

Solo means solo. No one in teh airplane but me. My instructor was on teh ground taking a few pics and setting me up for the traditional after first solo stuff (short version: they threw a bucket of water on me when I was distracted).
I was in a Cessna 152. N69078 to be exact.
Weather was really hot, which made the engine less powerful (density altitude and all that). We had some light crosswinds, which is better than the heavy crosswinds that we had been having a lot recently. But even thee light crosswinds are enough to make you have to point your nose one way to fly a different direction. And they make landings all the harder because your nose is *not* pointing straight down the runway until the last split second before you touch down when you have to straighten out real quick or else you flip when you touch down.
I was solo for half an hour, though part of that time is the taxi to and from the runway. The taxi from actually used a chunk of the time, since my last landing was abit rough and by the time I got it under control it was too late to use one of teh middle taxi ramps so I had to go to the end of teh runway. Then I had to taxi back to the hangar 5000 feet at a jogging pace (we are taught that you should never taxi at faster than a jogging pace).
All told, I have over 15 total flight hours, .5 of which is the coveted Pilot in Command time (which is what you are by default when you fly solo).
No pics with bikinis in it... yet. We do fly over a lake to get to our training area, and we have some pics from earlier in the year. Actually, my next step is perfecting my ground reference maneuvers, including my instructor's favorite: turns about a point. He says that he usually picks a swimming pool with bikini clad women as his reference point for doing the circles. We'll be bringing cameras and taking pics when I work on these maneuvers. If I do them right, the airplane is steady enough to take some good pictures. If there are any interested, I'll pass them along when they are available. Anyone interested in terrain shots from around Stillhouse Hollow Lake? Those I already have and they came out pretty good.
Ronin, the amateur flying photographer (among other things)!

Dude, I am married, Getting out is longer an option. Look how much I am on the board. And this is just one board. I have 6 others I hang out at.
But back to star of the thread, Ronin.
The next time I get stuck somewhere. I am calling you for a lift.
Come fly with me,Come fly with all the way home ICER sings in his best Dean Martin voice. which comes out like Jerry Lewis.

Well, until I get my private license, you'll have to stay stuck. Because it says in big fat letters on my student license "NO CARRYING PASSENGERS"
But I plan on having license by mid-May. And if you want, when I get enough money set aside to join a flying club (it's cheaper to rent plane that way) I'll see if I can't make a trip up to your area and give you a ride. It'll help me build flight hours and maintain currency, plus getting experience flying in *really* congested airspace (there is a special chart for the DFW area alone), so it's all good. And you guys in Aggieland are welcome also, especially since I'll be buzzing on in to College Station at least once during my cross-country training.
It'll probably be later in the year (September or so) before I get that much money set aside since I'm planning on restarting graduate school. I could always just rent at the standard rate, in which case I could do it as early as June...
Yep, I'm showing the signs. I don't have my license yet and I'm already inviting people to go flying with me. Heck, I figure anyone brave enough to fly with a freshly minted private pilot deserves to go flying. Just keep in mind that if you plan on taking any pictures, I get dibs on copies of the pics that turn out nice.
Ronin, part of whom is still up in the clouds (wait! did I say in? I'm not allowed in the clouds! How about near the clouds? Yeah, that sounds better! I can get away with that!)
