I don't like the way TDB does Omnis, so this is made in TDB and written up by hand. This is where I discovered that TDB doesn't put the tonnage on a 'Mech.

Mass: 35 tons
Chassis: Kallon Type XIV Endo Steel
Power Plant: GM 280 XL
Cruising Speed: 86 kph
Maximum Speed: 129 kph
Jump Jets: Rawlings 110
Jump Capacity: 240 meters
Armor: StarGuard V
Armament:
9 tons pod space available
Manufacturer: GM BattleMechs/Robinson Standard BattleWerks
Primary Factory: Kathil/Robinson
Communications System: Garret T20C
Targeting and Tracking System: Federated Hunter Mark II

Overview:

Soon after the FedCom Civil War, GM BattleMechs began production of the AF1 Arctic Fox under license from Arc-Royal MechWorks. A few montsh after production had started, the AFFS requested designs for a new light, fast OmniMech from the BattleMech companies of the Federated Suns. In response, GM asked for and received permission from Arc-Royal MechWorks to modify the Arctic Fox design. After a mere four months of work, GM unveiled its prototype, the NF1-O Night Fox.

Eerily similar in appearance to its grand-parent design, the Clan Kit Fox, the thirty-five ton Night Fox is both faster and heavier than either of its predecessors, with integral jump jets to increase its mobility, stronger armor, and the extra toughness inherent in a heavier chassis. It pays for this with decreased pod space - only nine tons - and a commensurate decrease in adaptability. To make up for the Night Fox’s relative lack of firepower, designers took a page from the Clan Masakari and made the basic circuits for a targeting computer an integral part of the ‘Mech’s chassis, allowing the Night Fox to make better use of what weapons it does have with a minimum of modification.

The major drawback of the Night Fox design is its gyroscope; the new extra-light gyroscope significantly increases the ‘Mech’s vulnerability to internal damage. While this addition was controversial, it was decided that more ‘Mechs would survive with the ton-and-a-half more armor the XL gyro permits than would be destroyed by internal damage.

Capabilities:

The Night Fox’s low pod space makes it poorly suited to a stand-up fight, but its high speed and maneuverability make it ideal for scouting and scout hunting. Most Night Fox configuration are relatively heat efficient on the ground, but use of the ‘Mech’s jump jets while firing weapons will usually generate more heat than the ‘Mech can handle.

The primary variant is intended as a general scout. A Bloodhound Active Probe lets it find hidden units, while the Angel ECM Suite gives it a chance of remaining undetected and protects it from advanced targeting systems if it comes under attack. Four ER medium lasers provide sufficient firepower to let the Night Fox destroy most vehicles and ‘Mechs lighter than itself, and to discourage attack from heavier units long enough for it to run away.

Designed to eliminate enemy scouts, the A variant trades the primary’s active probe and ECM for a pair of Streak SRM launchers, while retaining the four medium lasers.

The B variant is designed specifically to be paired with the A. The B mounts a single ER PPC as its sole armament, to harass targets at range while its partner closes for the kill.

The C variant’s primary weapon is the head-mounted TAG system, which lets it designate targets for long range artillery and missile strikes. A Beagle Active Probe helps it find targets, while the Angel ECM and laser AMS protect it from harm. The C carries only two ER medium lasers for self defense.

Similar to the C, the D variant drops the C’s Beagle, LAMS, and TAG for a NARC launcher and a ton of ammo. It maintains the Angel ECM to protect from detection, and the pair of medium lasers to protect it from enemies.

Deployment:

The first Night Foxes will be seeing operational testing with the Davion Light Guards. Later Night Foxes will be assigned to the Davion Guards and Deneb Light Cavalry units in the Capellan March, although a few may well end up in the Syrtis Fusiliers. Robinson Standard BattleWerks has acquired a license to produce Night Foxes from GM, and these ‘Mechs will go to the Davion Guards and Deneb Light Cavalry units stationed in the Draconis March. Arc-Royal MechWorks had lodged a legal challenge against GM’s license to Robinson Standard BattleWerks, but the usually good interface between courts in the Lyran Alliance and Federated Suns seems to be working less than ideally for this challenge. No Night Foxes exist outside of the Federated Suns.
