Overview:
A simple and effective design, this mech is designed for protection of installations and civillian properties. Being cheap helps alot as well. No pun intended but this is what the National Guard was designed for, although it can be use as, if slow, line mech.

Capabilities:
With a top speed of a mere 65 km/h, the National Guard is certainly no fast runner when compared to the newer medium designs. The National Guard was designed for protection, reliability and a versatile weapon loadout and with heatsinks to go with them. Boasting 11.5 tons of armor, the National Guard is extremely well protected and the inherent reliability of the engine makes it even better. The right arm boast a Donal PPC which is the mech's primary armament, allowing the National Guard do some damage at the ranges. A pair of Longfire V LRM5 racks lets the pilot rain withering fire upon the enemy as the National Guard moves forward to engage with the PPC. There are sufficient hitsinks to allow the pilot to fire both weapons at once when the target is in range which gives the mech a surprising punch. A trio of Blackwell Opal medium lasers round up the weapon array, serving as a close range hitter. An alpha strike will tax the mech's heatsinks but as long the mechwarrior keeps firing the weapons at their intended ranges, he will hardly even be bother about the heat.

Deployment:
Already on sale, the National Guard has found home in certain Chaos March minor nationalites and backwater Great House colonies as well as the Periphery. The basic hardiness of the design also make it popular in the Chaos March and Periphery as a line mech when compared to newer faster medium designs that use the more vulnerable XL engines. Cheaply available weapons and the use of lower end technologies have make the mech popular among newer and poorer mercenary units that cannot obtain top of the line equipment.
