That thought never occurred to me. To me, removing armor from a 'Mech in favor of weapons is akin to screaming "kill me now!!!" or "I don't deserve to win!!" I just don't understand why anyone would remove armor for weapons. No point in having weapons if you're not alive to use them, is there? Especially on a medium 'Mech, where two tons is a fifth or more of its armor.

That might be because we have always been designing front-line combat mechs..
now we are looking at something that's more general purpose. A utility Mech that just happens to be able to give raiders something to worry about.
Of course, nothing's concrete yet
plenty of room for debate here

Sorry, but thicker armor will avail you little if you have not the means with which to remove those firing upon you as a threat. Take the CGR-1A1 Charger. 10 tons of armor, 2.5 tons of weapons. Reduce the armor for weapons and you may have a mech that will make people not ignore it. Even if this were a front-line battlemech I would vote to reduce the armor to make room for equipment that would complete the "vision" the mech was designed for. _________________ If ignorance is bliss, then why are you so miserable?

The Charger isn't the best example, as this has quite a bit more frepower. And I'd still rather lose machine guns or the Beagle than armor. Which is again why I vote for a 55 ton 'Mech. A 55 ton 'Mech can have everything everyone wants; MGs, Beagle, and armor.

normally my first words would be remove the mgs but in this case i cant i think max armour is a must so id be willing to go with 55 tons to make room but the beagle has to stay man its downright necesary

Well, it IS a design by committee. Let's go with whatever keeps most people happy. I can live with a 55 ton mech, if it's what we need to get it off the drawing board.

Then I will call for a motion to approve 55 tons for the weight of the chassis.

55 tons sounds good for the specification I would like to see the armour maxed out the MGs are the weapons that can be gotten along with-out the best.

If we ditch the second medium laser and the extra heat sink, we can still pull this in at 50 tons with almost maximum armor.
I vote nay on the 55 tons, but will go along with whatever the majority vote calls for.

ok, I'll vote 55 tons. Let's get this design finished. Where do we want to put all this stuff on the chasis?

I think that the arms should be left free of the weapons. You will want to be able to defend yourself if the mech is carrying a load.

A class 10 A/C in the right torso with 2 tons of ammo store in the arms. If u want cheap cost then no case for u buddy. Blowing the arms is better then blowing the torso.
My vote is for 55 too. An extra 2 tons can mean another heatsink and a ton of ammo.

The AC looks good in the RT. Beagle probe in the left?
