To honor the landing of hurricane Charlie, here is a question. Has anyone ever played a scenario that involved a mech battle in the middle of a hurricane? Or how about a battle in a city just afterwards so all the streets are flooded.

I've done it, though I couldn't say if there are rules for it.
For those who haven't seen my other posts, I play remarkably fast and loose with the rules. I often consider them more like guidelines to help write the rules I need.
For flooding I just put the entire map under level 1 water (obviously, deep valleys and high mountains would be different). For rain I added a +1 to hit for lasers and flamers, and halved visibility. Wind added a +1 to all other weapons except the PPC. All piloting checks were done at +1, and no fires, though smoke traveled at twice its normal speed.
Now, these are the rules I laid down. There might actually be rules for inclement weather out there somewhere.

Nope, but I would imagine that hitting something with missiles would greatly depend on which way the wind is blowing. _________________ "Those who beat their guns into plows will plow for those with guns..." -Thomas Jefferson

Playing in a Hurricane? First, make sure your windows and doors are secured. Second, have lots of candles and flashlights. Third, it helps to worry alot after each round. Oh.....you meant playing Battletech with a hurricane in the scenario. Oops.
(I made it through Charlie. It pretty much went right through my yard. All I lost was two windows. And...the Battletech stuff on the table, right between the two windows made it out alright. Two mapsheets water damaged and my Bushwacker's missle pack fell off. It didn't even disturb the Elementals mounted on pennies.)

So are you going to re-name that platoon to the 'Hurricane raiders'?

Why would I want to play BTech in a hurricane? I spend enough time in real ones. Have you seen the radar pictures of hurricane Francis? It's bigger (nearly) than the state. Besides, it would seem that two armies would try to avoid fighting in a hurricane; imagine losing an Atlas to a telephone pole or small-to-medium sized tree.

StarRaven, good luck. I'm down in Arcadia and I know what you're going through.

Thanks, Discord. Spent today getting plywood and putting it on my windows. It's a lot of windows on a rather small house, which makes it rather disconcerting. You gotta love how it's just stopped, like it's stepping back for a running start. Good luck too you too, although I don't know how much in the path you are. I know I've heard the name Arcadia, but I'm afraid I don't recall where it is. (Clan Space, maybe?)

We're about 40 miles east of Bradenton. We're (I hope) out of the major danger zone, expecting rain and tropical force winds. And with all the debris left over from Charlie, that's what's worrying me. And I understand about the windows. Our landlord had the north facing widows boarded and that's about it. Fortunately, the family that's hiding.....I mean bunking down with us had plywood so we got the other windows covered on Friday. Try to let us know how you're doing. If FPL can keep the power on. (I can't go through another 12 days without power this time of year.)
