So what kinds of units do you deploy as scouts?

Cheap, fast stuff. What else?
Locusts, Stingers, Wasps. Spiders if I feel like spending more money on it. Hovertanks, like the Saracen or Scimitar.
Aerospace fighters if I have them. They're not cheap, but less likely to get in trouble.

Savannah masters. Or my 5ton wheeled vehicles, called Hum-Vees! They are extremely cheap. I can buy at least ten for the price of a light mech (they cost 95000) and thats with a fusion engine.
Problem is a good Medium laser hit can knock one out. If i'm expecting heavy combat i usually go with a Locust or Wasp, maybe a stilleto or if im a clanner a Dasher.
VTOL's are good but you lose them to easily. Aerospace fighters are a bit pricey and always seem to get shot down.
Usually i go for a cheap expendable vehicle. I like swiftwinds and other light scout cars.

Mechs: light, fast, low ammo requirements.
Vehicles: light, fast, cheap.
Aerospace: any.
I try to stick with the faster mechs, generally if it can't top 90 kph then it's not a scout to me. Also if it can be out in the field for extended periods then that is also a big plus. As for vehicles I have actually found that it is both economical and effective to employ a small group of hover APC's. They are fast and cheap. Enemies tend to send other cheap units to eliminate them. Also the grunts can set up perimeter lines utilizing remote sensors and can remain hidden better than a mech could. Other than that Hovercraft, VTOL's or tracked vehicles if there's a lot of woods. _________________ If ignorance is bliss, then why are you so miserable?

Hovercraft or light wheeled vehicles are my preferred scouts. They also make good units to establish a perimeter.
As for mechs i'll have to go with the Mongoose, Javelins or Jenners. I like my scouts to be able to sting if they spot juicy targets. _________________ "My job is to keep the majority of people in this country alive. That's it.
