Mordel, have you ever considered a forum for buying and selling Battletech stuff, sort of like http://bartertown.com/?

I recently discovered it, and I like the idea. I think we have a big enough community of horse traders (a phrase from my neck of the woods) here, that it might work.

What do you think?

I usually try to stay away from that because of potential legal issues that could crop up from such things. For example, say someone here is selling a book and you send the guy the money but he doesn't send the book. You could very easily come to me and say that because the deal was struck as a result of this site and was encouraged by it, I'm at fault.

Yeh, you don't want to get involved with this kinda thing. To many people are willing to sue first, I remember being part of a site that dealt with the trading and selling of Pokemon cards like e-bay(sad but bare with ) And one of the guys didn't send one of the traded cards, so the person sued the site for not monitoring the deals (or something equally obscure) and the person who owned the site lost over $2,000 for unauthorized trafficking of goods.

The world is mad!

Yeah, and you can put up disclaimers that say the site isn't responsible, but those hold as much weight as those signs in parking garages that say lost or stolen property is not the responsibility of the garage. Just because there is a sign stating something, doesn't mean it's true. Those signs are meant to try and deter people from suing. If they did, they'd most likely win.

Hmmm. . . . hadn't thought of that. Guess I'm a bit naieve and still trust all my fellows here at the B&G.

Well, it was a thought. At least there's still Gamers Union and the 'Mech Depot.
